Figure skating as a sport - dont make me laugh.

I dont see why you say that. Figure skaters are as fitter than any footballer I can think of.

Its a physical, skillful and sometimes very painful game to be in.

I would say its more of a sport than say darts for example.

Personally I wanted to be there.

Can't wait for the biathlon (boy are these guys fit, and I in the fitness way), and bobsleigh.

The UK's only figure skaters in the Olympics are....

....brother & sister.

Guess it's not that wierd, but when I first saw this, it seemed a tad odd. I imagine because 'dance' is a couples thing - so you're kind of looking for some romantic/sexual connection.

Maybe it's just me....

i want to see the womens speed skating, look out for the german;)

any "sport" that is marked on "artistic merit" is a bit dubious for me.

Thats the point I was trying to make. All the other ones are fine. In fact the winters' are more exciting than the summers if you ask me. Its just the "artistic merit" sports that wind me up.

ditto.... i appreciate their skill and falir and romantic, sexy gestures and all that but I agree with you - not a sport.

Perhaps the title was misleading........... artisitc merit sports are crap is more like it...

luge is hardly a sport either - the sport of lying down :confused:

I judge a sport on the ammount of ladies gusset on show and figure skating rates highly !

I would love be world champion of lying down, but I'd have to lose the beer belly - important to lie down aerodynamically. I reckon the a person with small feet and no chin will win :D

Way better than the summer one, all that snow and ice, wonderful, bring on the global warming/gulf stream shutting down thing and we can have it here.

Figure sakating together with artistic merit require physical fitness and above average coordination and that makes me accept anything like that as a sport.
