bigger turbo

hello,

I have a 98 subaru impreza gt ( euro version ) with dawes at 1,2 bar and decat, if I install a bigger turbo I really need a remap?

thanks for your help.

simple answer yes you will as fueling needs will be different on new turbo.

if you dont map you run the risk of a lean engine and eventually BANG!!!

As long as you check for knock, then it can be done. But you should choose a turbo that naturally tails off at the top end - VF23 is perfect for this :)

Assuming everything else is in working order, you will be running lean during spool-up (but not dangerously so, it just slows spool up).

Note that you must check for at least knock, and better is a wideband for fuelling too. You have 380cc injectors (my99/00 have 440's) - from memory you'll run into problems running more than 1 bar past 6k with a vf23 with a healthy car. Your car *really* needs to be in good health before you start.

We ran a my98 a few years back for 18 months with a VF23 at 1.3 bar on the stock map with nothing untoward.

Last reminder (disclaimer...... :D) - don't just assume because it can be done on one my98, it can on another....your car must be 100% healthy before you start :)

ok, I was thinking in a vf22, but without a remap it's better to forget about it.
fuel pressure regulator doesn't help?
