what else do i need to fit sti8 tmic onto my00 classic

im off to buy an sti8 intercooler from a breakers tomorrow to fit on my my00 classic but im just wondering if there was anythin else i need off the car while im there? or do i just need the intercooler itself?

Left hand bracket, the D/V and recirc hose. nice to get the clutch reservoir/master cylinder and pipework as well but you can chop your existing one down

You will need a new turbo hose as well. neither the sti8 or my00 are long enough.

cheerz mate. what happens with the bonnet scoop and the tray under the bonnet? does it modifying or anythin?

p1mark 27 January 2006 06:20 PM

The version 8 bonnet scoop wont fit. you have to get an aftermarket one if you want a big scoop.

The undertray doesnt fit either. I made a new one but apparently the V8 one can be made to fit with a lot of bashing, chopping and drilling.

Here`s mine on an MY00.
Havnt sussed out what to do with the scoop and undertray yet though.

So just out of interest, what is the best Subaru IC that is a straight swap for a 98-00 classic with no mucking about and retaining the same pipework, dv etc? Mine's a 98 WRX btw.

WUZ 27 January 2006 09:50 PM

Problem with the STi TMIC on Johnny's car is that the TD04 is 48mm out and TMIC is 51mm in but I fitted this to his car as he was going to put on a TD05 (51mm out).

I've just mailed Saj to see if he can put one by for me. I wasn't going up there till the 18th as it's the same day as the Sussex meet/open day at Gatwick Subaru.

rentonone 29 January 2006 04:11 PM

how do you drop the resovoir down to get intercooler in?

Johnny50 29 January 2006 07:03 PM

Russell actually trimmed mine down by a few mm to get the overall height of it down.

cheers mate i'll give it a try. did you use the sti8 left side intercooler bracket or did u make your own?

Johnny50 29 January 2006 09:02 PM

To be honest i'm not sure.
As the intercooler was on Russells RA when i bought it from him, so Samco, Brackets etc.. all came with the cooler.

I'm sure Russell will answer when he can.
