fitting headers on classic

was all set to go on this, and after a good squirt of WD 40 i realised that all the original nuts on manifold heatsheild wont budge? do they have to be re-moved to get old unit off or is there a easy way?

think im gonna pay someone to do the job !

its a 95wrx im only uk owner had it 2 yrs,if any one in kent or essex fancy a go please pm me there is beer and cash waiting ;)

yes they need to be removed to gain access to the manifold bolts on each side.I dont suppose theres any harm im cutting them off if you have a good set of tin snips, but that will leave sharp edges. You could always use a dremel to cut the nuts off

yeah thought that would b the case, its just so cold @ the minute and i want them done by feb4th for bedford gt trackday ;)

DIPSY 30 December 2005 06:38 PM

I have heard people who do headers lag them

avalaugh 30 December 2005 06:59 PM

dipsy what does lag them mean?

DIPSY 30 December 2005 07:06 PM

wrap the headers with exhaust wrap

avalaugh 30 December 2005 07:07 PM

already done ;)

sod the dremel. Get an angle grinder in there and blast the bolts away :D Just watch where the sparks are going

I'm suggesting this without knowing if its possible to get an angle grinder in there though :)

thanks guys but i got it fitted today, but missing a few knuckles now ;)

had to lift engine, cut bolts, bend brackets etc but i got there

only prob now is i cant get old lamba sensor thing out of old manifold uppipe?the new headers have a hole for it but it is plugged up,so its running fine just drove for 45 miles and no probs nor did engine light came on but i never took it over 4000rpm

is it necessary to have it fitted or will it be fine without it as i have no cats anyway?

reply's asap please as im out tonight and would like to give it a bit of stick
