What went wrong mid lift off or to energetic on the gas on the way out and is the car repairable ?

Actually the rumble strip itself didn't flip them, it was the soft earth on the OPPOSITE side of the circuit that did it.
And I was betting that it would have been another car to go off first as well... but I was wrong. |
So was I Rob, http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif but i did warn said person in the morning about that corner, seems he listened and had a good day. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
You know who you are http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL |
I think i know who you mean ( could be a darker coloured car maybee say 5 or 6 years old ) only car to pass me who then proceeded to brake very late into the next bend locking up all 4 and going sideways into the corner just missing killing the 3 cones sealing of the full track , and i have to admit wondering wether he or not he would make it round Lodge with or without wing mirrors.
you know who you are ( Mr Brave ). regards TKH. |
Thanks for your concern. I was that driver and am pleased to say I'm OK!
Drifted wide coming out of Lodge, caught the rear nearside wheel on rumbles went into slow 180 spin across the track, and as someone already said, the wheels dug into the earth and turned us over. The car was up against a grass mound on drivers side, an I was stuck for 20mins until they could remove passenger seat to get me out. Full marks to Oulton Parks rescue and paramedic teams! NB. anyone got any pictures I'd love to see them. IanMWoodward@AOL.com [This message has been edited by IanMWoodward (edited 30 January 2001).] |
Once again great news you're o.k. didnt take any photos as they might not have been in the best taste at the time no what i mean , however i can now give a full description upon request as to what the suspension set up on the new model looks like as viewed from underneath and have to agree that you were fortunate to be in the very capable hands of the track team see you at the next track day.

Ian found the pics look at general questions
subject MY 01 Write off !!! good pics car looks better for it Regards Tim |
I do hope you were not betting on me going off. I certainly had a few puzzled looks from drivers under braking as i caught them up, not to mention a stream of passengers wanting a trundle round.
|
Great pace Andy and no i didnt manage to get to Ladbrokes but have to admit i don't know how you sorted that lovely slide out but 10 out of 10 for doing it only wish i had the camcorder rolling.
Incidentally whats the secret big brakes big boost or just big b***s or have you been given 3 months to live. Respect. Tim |
John/Rob.
Oi you loggers!!! What's this poo about dodgy betting shops?????? Cheeky barstewards! Where's me winnings? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Ian. Good to hear you're OK. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Stef. |
Stef the odds were as follows.
3:1 Somebody came off at lodge. 5:2 somebodys m.a.f. would go pop 4:3 i would need new tyres by 2 pm 66:1 it would be icy on saturday( bet placed friday mid day ) Dead cert : everybody would have a great day. unfortunatley the betting slip got sucked out the window at dear leap which is a great shame because an accumulator bet would have paid £ 66'666.66 Regards. Tim. |
Tim, 20 years rallying and racing up to International level may give me a slight edge!

Andy
I assume that you were the chap who gave me a lift round Oulton at about 3pm. Sorry I didn't ask you for your name, but I was too busy gritting my teeth and saying various prayers, particularly going through the chicane where I think I managed to keep my eyes open after about the third lap. Got to be one of the most exhilarating experiences I've had in my life. Cheers Dales |
IanMWoodward
were you 'test driving the car' as a possible purchase???????? will you be buying one???? how did it drive up-until your little mishap?? Phil |
Better than the chicane up in Yorkshire Daly lad???
