HOW CAN ROLLING ROAD FIGURES CHANGE SO MUCH>??????????
 

:confused: I hope some one can help.

I went too power engineering in the summer

too see what power my 99uk scooby would make, it made 274bhp and 273LBS/FT torque.

Happy with that, only thing was next time i went back i only made 245bhp and 248lbs/ft torque.

NOT happy at all, so the guy,s at power engineering restarted the ecu and it made 265bhp and 284lbs/torque.

Help what,s going on........ 1st run bhp max power was at 5830rpm.

2nd run bhp max power was at 5862rpm

3rd run bhp max power was at 5610rpm

please can some one explain........

That's RR's for you I'm afraid..!

Too many variables (sp?) with temps, tyre pressures and more importantly operators etc...!

Hate to say that PE are amongst to more generous BTW..;)

Not to mention fuel, air temps, etc etc

Where would you say i should go and get it RR who,s the best in south england.............

This my friend is bollox :hjtwofing Granted they are not the most scientific and accurate way to test your cars output but they still give you the general idea if your motor's a slug or not !

Doesn't actually DRIVING it in the real world give you a general idea??

Would you like to give me a technical breakdown of WHY Subaru (or any car manufacturer for that matter) map the way they do...... Oh, thats before I blow you in to the weeds! ;)

Perhaps if you tell the WHOLE story (do you even know it!?) you wouldnt try and misguide others by stating stuff TOTALLY out of context.

Anyway back on track... The only way to accurately measure Horsepower is with your motor on a bench, which isn't that convenient for most of us. I'd expect the readings to be more consistent than the ones you've posted though. How are you supposed to set up an engine with different data on every run?

They map the way they do to:-

1. Deliver maximum power subject to the following:-

a. Decent Fuel Consumption

b. Relaible Mechanics

c. Legal Emmissions

d. Long Life

e. Driveability

Thats it ......... to foook about with it compromises any, or all, of the above!

And is an utter waste of money ............ I have NO vested interest in my opinion - before we hear your opinion 'to blow me into the weeds' :rolleyes: maybe you could disclose any pecuniary interests you have in RR and Re-Maps!!

You left some HUGE factor's out of that.... and that is fuel grade, country, atmospherics and above all else THE DRIVER!

You really think for a minute that none of these conditions once actually known (i.e. the guy/girl that actually owns a car and knows what they are and how they drive, what fuel they will use, what country etc etc) that even Subaru couldnt make that car better?...... but according to your brash statement, that would be impossible as you already get the best from the OM.

Yes... 2+2 really does make 4! ;)

Put it this way.... I can get all the benefits you mention, with extra power on top! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!. ;)

I still think that Subaru delivers the best all round package of longevity (15 years+ and 150,000miles of trouble free motoring)

Decent mpg figures (I return 35mpg easily)

Reliablility (mile upon mile of solid performance)

Pissing about with the package compromises reliability (engines blown apart) economy (10mpg) .....................

Buy the car you WANT, not one you have to change! :rolleyes:

You return 35mpg from a 2ltr Turbo engine..... you must never go over 3k rpm on a solid run. I AM BEING SERIOUS!!!

You really think that "pissing" about with a package means downsides?!?!? I would lay a years wages on the fact that my Spec C is as reliable as yours! In fact my Golf TDi has been chipped by an increase of 30% more power and torque. Has not cost me any more to run and has faultlessly completed over 60k in 2yrs since the remap. :freak3:

You argument is as long as it is tall, but making a brash covering statement that you have is total horse mannure in actually making a clear definition of the facts!!! ;)
