Would I benefit from a FMIC?
As title, would i benefit from upgrading to a FMIC?
My cars current spec is: my98 uk vf28 turbo full exhaust/headers 440 injectors apexi ecu sti4 TMIC Thanks |
yes you will benefit with cooler charge temps, but at that spec its not required outright. you are only running a turbo thats o.e on jap sti's, P1 etc. upgrade to sti5/6 TMIC would be nice though.

IIRC the my98 i/c is the same as the sti 4,5 & 6 just painted black.

5+6 are slightly different. The DV mount is the most obvious, but I have been told by a reputable mapper that the STI4's TMIC is s**t!!!. The V5 and 6 have a different core to the 4.

I was thinking of upgrading the turbo at some point, but wanted to sort out cooling before i go further. And if i was to gain improvements on current setup, then its a bonus.

Agreed that STi4 TMIC is no better than UK97/98 and that MY99/00 or V5/6 is a little better.
If you are thinking of going for a bigger turbo at some point then I would go for the FMIC, if not then a STi 7 or 8 top mount should allow some more power to be made once remapped. Andrew... |
