Bumraa 14 September 2005 12:30 PM

tis a 1995 1.8 gl wagon, only cost me a grand,

Am insured and it was the 307's fault, it pulled out from the left on a roundabout and just stopped when it saw my mean machine coming towards it, my 19" wheels couldnt grip the wet roads and cause a little skid and BANG, ow my neck hurts~!!! (The woman icrashed into came running over and said "i thought you were turning left"?!?! that was followed by a stern,, "i would have used indicators!!" hehe)

The worsty thing was i have only had it a month,

Am gutted

Bumraa 14 September 2005 01:57 PM

hmmm yes, it would look ok if it was supposed to be like that, need an industrial size iron and ironing board...

mickywrx 14 September 2005 02:07 PM

Angry fecker that motor. Probably uneconomical to repair from insurance point of view.

M444GY 14 September 2005 06:01 PM

are they audi wheels ?? car looks mashed . u must be gutted :(

stabb 14 September 2005 06:12 PM

i think if you've ran into the back of someone your gonna be taking the blame m8 regardless as for damage if rad is ok about £500 will put a facelift turbo front on plus paint of course. jason

StickyMicky 14 September 2005 08:15 PM

hmmmm

18" tt wheels in anthracite could be good :D

Paulo P 14 September 2005 09:13 PM

5 stud VAG cars have the same stud pattern as Subarus :) I can't remember the offset though :o

Bumraa 14 September 2005 10:02 PM

Yes they are 19" audi/vw wheels,

they pulled out on me so there insurance pays, i am getting 1700, they said it was a right off without even lifting the bonnet up, after taking a look myself with help from a mechanic ithink i can fix for around £1000 (hopefully) so £700 to me hahaha....

Its not gonna be as bad as initially thought but at the moment i have no car so that sucks donkey nuts.....

Is it possible to add a turbo to the 1.8 gl ?? hope so, i heard not many people on here have respect for non turbo's, cant be left out now can i........... ;)

A minority on here don't agree with non-turbo scoobs mate, but the majority of us are simply Subaru enthusiasts however they look. (speaking as a fellow GL owner :thumb: )

Am I right in thinking your front wings are undamaged and all you need is a new bonnet and bumper or has the engine taken a pounding aswell? If you only need new bumper and bonnet you could probably sort it for less than £400 for a turbo facelift, as for adding a turbo to a 1.8 its probably not the easiest thing to do and not the most practical either really unfortunately!

Swen6 15 September 2005 07:54 AM

The blokes, braking an early classic, with bonnet, lights, bumper?

Mark:)

Bumraa 15 September 2005 02:44 PM

Thnk the engine is ok, just looks like the radiator is bent up a bit, will post a pic later today of the insides,

Luckily both wings are completly untouched (i cant believe it myself hehe) so its gonna be a bit cheaper than expected....

Bumraa 15 September 2005 02:48 PM

As for the turbo, if its unpractical then i wont bother, the car still moves like its got a rocket up its arse anyway compared to my old 1ltr corsa so i'm happy ;)

If you stick a turbo on your sport, you would need to upgrade your brakes, sort out your suspension and fit a new gearbox, and im sure a load more things would need changing, Cheaper to buy a Turbo 2000 and have everything fitted already.

And if you did fit a turbo or a new turbo engine, dont forget to tell your insurance company, as not telling them would be a big mistake if you crashed it.

Hope you get it sorted, and nice wheels by the way.

I ran at them calling them nob heads and asking the reason for there theft when one of them said "oh, we that it was scrap, just thought we would have the wheels, they're nice arnt they?"

HMMMMMMMMM, right, dont get me wrong, its not in good shape at the moment but omg, for crying out loud, for f*cks sake!!!!

I just find it was funny when i think about it now but they were nice enough to put em back on for me....

1 grand for repair is a lot of money matey. Personally what id do is get your 1700 and invest in a sport. I take it you want to stick with a non turbo for a while to keep costs low, well the sport comes with a few more gadgets than the 1.8 and has a little more of a kick. Trust me I had one n it was a right fun car to drive.

Sounds good in theory but unfortunatly i cant afford to renew my insurance, got 10 months left on it and it was £1300 as i am only 21 which was a bit nasty,

might be under 1000 if i can do most of the work myself or with help from family member but we'll see what happens

I would like a sport tho, hmmmm

Benno 16 September 2005 10:24 AM

I have a cheap set of tutbo bumpers (front and back) PM me if interested.
