I’ve been comparing the Robin momento (aka plastic pig) against an STi VI and have decided that the robin is by far the better car. I have never driven either of these cars but a mate of mine knows someone who has. So I consider myself an expert. Since this forum is all about sharing knowledge, I felt obliged to give you the benefit of my expertise.

Any physics expert will tell you that the most stable structures have three legs as this prevents them from wobbling on an uneven surface. Remember having to stuff the log tables under a leg on your four legged desk during your maths exam to balance it on an uneven surface. It’s the same for cars. So with three wheels a robin has to be more stable and will handle better. The wobble problem becomes worse for 4 wheeled cars as the surface becomes more uneven and the suspension on Imprezas is far too stiff which makes this worse. So an Impreza would be particularly unsuitable as a rally car.

With a wheel in the middle where few other vehicles go you will be running on fresh tarmac that hasn’t been made as smooth as glass by the 100tonne lorries recently approved for use on British roads by the government. This gives you more grip. So on real road conditions rather than your fancy drag strips and race tracks a robin will easily out accelerate an Impreza.

If economy is important to you again the robin wins here. The new AC batteries designed to power the MY01 robin are made from Osmium kryptonite alloy. This is an incredibly light yet powerful composite, which has allowed a weight reduction for the new model. In BHP/tonne terms the designers reckon the MY01 should now have the drop on the prototype Delfino.

Recent addition of locking doors to the robin has brought security to a new level. In a real life street crime test, when a robin and a scoob were parked side by side in an inner city car park, 9 out of 10 thieves went for the scoob. I’ve been looking at the various performance mods available and have been disappointed by the very limited selection available for Imprezas. However, Pigsport have a wide range of mods for the robin. I’m going to get it chipped first. This will take the performance to 336BHP. You can’t check it because the wheels wont all fit in the grooves of the rolling road but its true – my mate says!

I’ll be importing it from Burkina Faso because the cars for this market are tuned to run on a lower grade 23RON fuel and they don’t have the speed limiter. See you guys on track. By the way, is the next meet during half term?

Tiffany Dell deserves shooting. I would guess that handbraking a quattro isn't the nicest thing to do to the centre diffs.

Someone will no doubt correct me.

However, back to the robin, no troubles with handbraking that. The torsen haldex helical centre diff will be set to 100/0 torque split at all times, therefore handbraking won't damage the diff.

See, it really *is* better than the impreza. And less ugly than the MY01.

I am thinking of starting my own tuning company as well as I have noticed that Pigsport are the only quality tuner in the market.

Watch out Pigmania will be trading soon, I envisage quality upgrades such as enlarged 8" wheel options and the ever so versatile wet cotton wool suspension with its own cotton bud tuning reservoir.

Well we can't all have Robins but I am going right out there to do a few mods to my scoob. Removing one of the front wheels will improve stability a lot. And that ridiculous turbo charged 2 litre engine is going, to be replaced by the superior 848 cc and a WHOLE BAG of chips.

There is a downside to 'Pig' ownership....
I followed one once in the winter after heavy snow, the poor front wheel didn't know which wheelrut to follow, kept hopping between left and right - highly amusing.

Suppose you do save money on brake kits, alloys etc....

Thanks for the website, through it I traded in my 6 spd box for a 4. wooooooooow! what a transformation. Ive taken off my 17inch alloys and am now running on discs alone; this with the shorter ratios has reduced my 0-60 to 0.9secs. Funny this should come up as my latest project is a Reliant Robin with a mid mounted Rolly Royce Merlin engine from a 1944 Supermarine Spitfire VB. This kicks out about 4,000 bhp . Problem is , in any gear , use of the loud pedal causes the tyres to melt.

Check out the "RACING GREEN SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION & ROYALE LIMITED EDITION" for one sexy looking motor! I think it's the "Centre Leather-style Glove Box with Soft Feel Trim" that does it for me, not to mention the kudos of having a robin with ally wheels and white dials, and, to cap it all, the roof mounted areial.
