Replacing the gear knob

Can anyone advise me how to remove the standard bugeye WRX gear knob, I want to fit an aluminium Momo knob but am unsure what needs to be done?

Thanks in advance.

Unscrew it as easy as that, the momo pushes on and secures with 3 grub screws which just pinch against the gear lever... screw up the collar job done,if your gaitor has no fixing you can wrap tape around the lever and pull up the gaitor..

Thanks for the info and excuse my ignorance but please can you elaborate on the 'gaitor' bit.........

Also, when I tried to unscrew the existing gear knob the whole gear lever seemed to rotate a bit so I gave up. Is it just a case of keep turning the knob with more pressure until it unscrews???

Yes turn it anti clockwise, when you get the oem gearknob off you will see a rim around it for the gaitor to sit in,dont think momos have this
