The scooby has gone!

My lovely WRX03 PPP has gone, for a few reasons:
1. The seats were hurting my back.
2. Every man and his dog wanted a race when I was trying to make progress.
3. The performance was never that good above 70, but combine a hot day and air-con and I'm sure a diesel Mondeo could keep up!

So, I picked this up recently :)

444 BHP, 4.2 litre V8 twin turbo.

One year old, Full leather electrically adjustable and heated seats, sat nav, TV, 6 CD changer with Bose sound system, electric folding/dimming mirrors, electrically adjustable steering wheel, 19" wheels... and lots of other nice touches :)

WHEN it gets remapped ;) it will have a power to weight ratio the same as the 'turbo. Abt can chip it to 505 BHP AND keep the warrantee intact with Audi UK!

I miss the chuckability of the scoob, but I think this suits my holiday driving style better. Looking forward to the first long trip - South of France here we come! :D

I may also remove the badges and replace them with "1.9TDi" :D :D

Who's to say you haven't already removed the 1.9TDi badges and fitted RS 6 ones :p

Lovely car though, my sort of performance car these days :D

trails 04 July 2005 06:29 PM

good choice, i think i may end up with an RS4 avant next too...shame :D

JackClark 04 July 2005 07:52 PM

I'd love one of those, but I'm way too tight to buy one. The V8 Audi's at Le Mans this year made an ungodly sound at full chat.

sainge 04 July 2005 08:03 PM

An excellent choice of cars.

16vmarc 04 July 2005 08:10 PM

Id love one of these too

:D

ScooBStu 04 July 2005 08:24 PM

Is that your porsche too - Bloody rich git. Both nice cars.

turboman786 04 July 2005 08:25 PM

Superb choice of car...I remeber having a tussle with one in my (then) e36 m3 evo......Ive never been so beaten before, he simply wiped the floor, and left me for dust!

Bet it cost a bit though....!

scoobyboy1 04 July 2005 09:25 PM

my dads mate had one, all i can say is what a car, he's recently tested a load of cars and reckons nothing compares to the RS6, but he also had loads of people try racing him like you get in the scoob, I think a lot of people know what the RS6 is capable of so your rear view mirror will always get the odd Nova or corsa trying it on. :)

GCollier 04 July 2005 09:43 PM

Good choice :)

I also have an RS6 avant. It's the best all round car I've ever owned and the perfect companion for any journey, long or short whatever the weather.

Gary.

You'll be pleased to know that your posts (here and RS246) helped in the decision! :D
Thanks! :D

The what?!! I'm glad you didn't call it "fuel economy", as the e-word sticks in my throat now. I've been enjoying :) the performance for the 200 or so miles I've had it so far, and the trip computer is showing just over 15 MPG.
Not bad :thumb: :freak3:

lol, well thats not to bad for that kind of performance. I was expecting like 5MPG.

If funds would permit I'd sure like one of those one day:ponder2: . I bet they sound awesome with an aftermarket exhaust system fitted - mind you saw a red one at Oulton park acting as the pace car for the BSB and that sounded fruity.

Turbohot 05 July 2005 12:19 AM

Sorry but gotta say Audis arent great looking cars,no matter how well they perform and no matter how gyzmo-equipped they are inside.Apart from AudiUR/WR head turner and their historical performance good few yrs ago,i dont remember any Audi including toy TT:D
Apart from that,They are ridiculously overpriced for what they are.Devaluation is about 60% as Jeremy Clarkeson said last year.
Still, nice car:thumb:! I wouldnt have one!Too plain looking plane:D
BTW,I have 3 Audis in my household( Mine is good old "slow" scooby tho:D ) so please know i aint having a go.
:D

zakk 05 July 2005 12:29 AM

:eek2:

DJ Dunk 05 July 2005 10:18 AM

Very nice mate :D Will have to take me out for a spin in that one too, still not quite recovered from the porker experience ;)

I'm surprise the Laguna didn't get in on the photo action ;) ;)

I wasn't going to mention it! It does increase the driveway total to 959BHP though!

Some of your memorable quotes from the turbo blast:
Accellerating down a slip road:
"My ears have just popped..."

Going over a small bump at full throttle:
"I thought we were going to take off there!"

:D :D

DJ Dunk 05 July 2005 10:31 AM

LOL, its still a vivid memory :D Certainly some beautiful engineering on the drive now :) Renault aside ;)

I'm going to bookmark this thread and see how long it takes before the next upgrade comes along :D

Hope you are both well, enjoy the beasts :)

Speak soon,
Dunk

The Daddy of all estates :notworthy

Stunning performance, i have only ever been in one other car that was
faster and that was an AMG Mercedes.

stilover 05 July 2005 12:29 PM

Top car mate.
Personaly, I love fast Audi's. Much better than BMW's or Merc's.
My old mans getting the new RS4 in November. Can't wait.

Hol 05 July 2005 01:30 PM

Perfect compromise estate car for things like tip runs ;)

You can fit plenty of PC Monitors in the back of that! :D

Did you PX the Scoob, or sell it private?

Jiggerypokery 05 July 2005 04:18 PM

The fastest monitor mover in the east! :D
I had to throw out half of the junk in the garage to find 40cm more for this beast.

I gave the scoob back to the dealer, as they gave me more than the Audi dealer was offering. The time between deciding to get the RS6 and actually getting it was quite short, so I was keen to take the easiest route when selling the scoob.

R 14NS R 05 July 2005 07:10 PM

awesome driveway!!!
