Look up your old vehicles

http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp (click Vehicle Enquiry)

Been looking up the old cars I owned. My old 205 GTi is still going strong based on the last V5 registration it seems. I sold it 7.5 years ago when it had over 120,000 on the clock!

It must have a good home. Almost brings a tear to my eye.

ALi-B 20 May 2005 12:22 AM

Ahhh my old XR3 exists....I wonder if the current owner fixed 5th gear (or the lack of :D).

I also wonder if can still scrape through emissions tests without its cat (Welding in a straight-thru when the original cat shattered).

:D

I miss that car <sniff> - I still have the knuckle scars ;)

ALi-B 20 May 2005 12:28 AM

Some eejit has also put my scrapped Nissan Sunny back on the road. :cuckoo:

edit...no it hasn't.... I just put the reg number in wrong ...who'd have guess it would be another Sunny the same colour

fast bloke 20 May 2005 01:50 AM

I see my written of Kwack is back on the road..... again - it was built in 1997 and written of every year since - maybe it is just unlucky

NotoriousREV 20 May 2005 06:52 AM

Wow, MrsREV's old Reliant Robin is still going!

LG John 20 May 2005 07:40 AM

What does date of liability mean? Mines says 1/7/05 which is approaching?

Jamo 20 May 2005 08:29 AM

my 1978 vw golf is still going strong

Jap2Scrap 20 May 2005 08:32 AM

The Supra I sold in 2000 hasn't been taxed since apparently... Guess it was the head gasket on its way out after all :norty:

pslewis 20 May 2005 08:33 AM

Wheres my 1967 Cortina Mk1 Lotus?? :( :( :(

Pete

Luminous 20 May 2005 08:47 AM

All of mine are dead, apart from one  Only my old abused 106 GTi is still on the road. That thing was a wreck when I left it. Peugeot did not build the engine properly, and I had to trade it in as a non-runner :(

At least I got the last laugh. 1) I sued the ba*tards. 2) I got one over on the garage. They thought they were ripping me off with the price they offered. Little did they know the brakes were shot, the clutch was going, the hearbox was dying, the CAT had gone, and a few other bits :) They ended up paying a fair price, which is nice to see for a change :D

Brendan Hughes 20 May 2005 09:57 AM

My Dutton appears to have been in the UK for a bit longer than I thought - sold it to a German in 1992. Unlicensed now though. As is my first 205GTi. Forgotten the reg of my second.

davegtt 20 May 2005 10:11 AM

Doesnt find my scoob  I only sold it in January... hope its not been written off already

Brendan Hughes 20 May 2005 10:20 AM

Can't remember the reg of my scoob, despite it being my most recent car :o Shows how significant it was to me!!

Abdabz 20 May 2005 10:23 AM

My 1st car (1987 Escort Pop) was last V5'd in 2000. It is now "unlicensed" does this mean it is dead? Please advise - I need to know...
If it still exists I want to buy it back will pay 10times face value...

ALi-B 20 May 2005 10:49 AM

Unlicenced = untaxed = most likely no MOT = most likely dead or dumped in farm yard somewhere

thundertiger 20 May 2005 10:53 AM

Wheres my 1967 Cortina Mk1 Lotus??
in your dreams with the rest of your possesions...

PS: they are called MK1 Lotus Cortinas.

Dracoro 20 May 2005 10:56 AM

All it means is it hasnt been taxed since 2000. So it could mean its been driven without tax now, or its been written off / scrapped. Who knows?!? ;)

Dracoro 20 May 2005 11:00 AM

Oops, misread the form. Liability was 2001 so it lasted a few years after I sold it I guess.

bioforger 20 May 2005 11:06 AM

Cool site though. My F-reg Pug 205 1.9 is still going, so is a Ren19-16V which had a completely shot gearbox, and also my written off last scoob has been re-taxed, so assume that is back on the road to, that was an absolute mess

Petem95 20 May 2005 11:07 AM

Im assuming status:

Licence not due = its taxed
Unlicenced = not taxed or been scrapped??
SORN not due = SORN has been declared?

Funkii Munkii 20 May 2005 11:10 AM

Date of Last V5 Issue 20 08 2004

You should have been sent a new one
All cars were issued with new a V5 last year regardless of any change or request...that new stupid two page EU jobby.

The old style single sheet V5s are obsolete..

The only exception maybe if it hadn't been taxed and declared sorn for a long time, or you already have the new style two page V5.

VaTaNeN 20 May 2005 11:28 AM

All of my MKI & MKII RS Escorts appear to be dead; mind you I scrapped most of them myself!

My Series 1 RS Turbo also appears to be dead. I left it in a garage for a few years whilst it rotted away, then sold it to some keen lad (for a nice amount!) who reckoned he was going to restore it – Not been taxed since the last one I put on it. :norty:

309 GTi, 3 Door Sierra Cosworth, MY99 Scooby – All going strong.

Have you all put your oldies on http://www.drivearchive.co.uk ?

Thanks, I'll have to have a look around, but pretty sure I didnt get it, i thought someone was cloning the scoob.

brickboy 20 May 2005 12:06 PM

Brilliant link .... my dad's 1965 Honda CB77, which he sold for £50 in the mid-70s (the first bike I ever pillioned on) is still registered

My old Suzi GT200X5 isn't :(

MJW 20 May 2005 12:41 PM

Bizarrely, the 1990 Sapphire Cosworth I wrote off in err.. 1990 is still on the go, and its taxed while next year !

Abdabz 20 May 2005 12:46 PM

Does this mean I can buy the reg plate from the dvla for my first car as it is unlicensed?
P

Nice to know it's still going, hope they're looking after it, should never have sold it :(

SiPie 20 May 2005 01:05 PM

The whole site is so inaccurate it's comical ....

1) They even have my current car as being a 1297cc and should only have to pay £110 tax on it PA :D

Maybe that's why it feels underpowered.

2) Old RED Astra sri, know the guy who has it and has it registered all accurately in his name.... says it's green

3) Old prelude, guy still lives in the same vilage. SORN according to the website. Still has a current tax disc on it

............more to the point, some **** has painted my old beetle purple :(
