Convictions and certain jobs.
What convictions bar you from what jobs?
1.Accountant/financial advisor.....can you have any debt, financial related conviction, what about a CCJ,or even a bad credit rating. 2.Solicitor,what about say, petty theft as a youngster,or done for no motor insurance. Is it zero tolerance in regard to the above? |
depends on the conviction. Most convictions have a spent period after which they are no longer counted. There are of course some exceptions but small stuff usually has a period after which its spent and there is no need to declare them.

Surely you cant be a copper if you have any sort of criminal record?

I think the Rehabilitation of Offenders will help out:
http://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/rehabact.htm Basically some convictions can be spent, others can't and some professions don't allow any spent convictions. A little light reading.... :) |
Thanks.

If you are Michael Jackson they may wonder about hiring you as the Choc-Ice seller in a Primary School :D

I used to be a doorman, but when every doorman had to be registered and conviction history checked,i couldnt get my security licsence. This ways due to an incident 9yrs previous..
Just a thought if anyone is thinkin of going in "the proffesion"..;) |
If it's any consolation, I just had to have my security clearance updated and I have to declare anything, including speeding convictions, going back to when I was born.
