cheers mate it just annoying when it comes on it seems to do it when its cold a lot more i dont know

mark6 25 March 2005 08:54 AM

well the first thing you need to do is get the code its bringing up to find out why its throwing a cel, then take it from there....

Zool 25 March 2005 09:36 AM

how do you do that mate

mark6 25 March 2005 10:26 AM

i'm just trying to find a site that tells you, what year is yours??,on the earlier models you can connect two blocks together(i think) under the steering column and it gives a certain amount of flashes like morse code i think, which you need to decode,or on the later models you just connect a select monitor and it gives you the fault codes.

http://www.troublecodes.net/Subaru/

this might help

Zool 25 March 2005 10:37 AM

tar mate just done the code the code things and it is knock sensor i dont supose you have an idea what wer it is do you

mark6 25 March 2005 10:56 AM

i'd stop driving the car until you get it sorted!!,knock sensor is telling you that you are getting detonation, the fuel is igniting in your cylinders before the spark and this is what blows the engines due to stress on the engine,it could also be a faulty knock sensor but i think that is unusual,is yours an import??if so it may be worth getting some octane booster to put in for when you drive it to a garage, are you running it on optimax??

Zool 25 March 2005 11:14 AM

its a uk 00 always on optimax so is ther no way round it does it just happen all of a suden cos ive only had it back from scoob clin a week and it didnt show then but the light was on before it went up ther and if it is somet majer i dont want to drive all the way back up ther as it takes a fair while as i live near wigen so god knows what do and thanks for your help mate:)

mark6 25 March 2005 12:17 PM

i'd get in touch with scoobyclinic and see what they say,it may just be a wire that was disturbed and is affecting the knock sensor,so its just a false alarm, but if it is detting then i wouldn't drive it.i'm no expert i just remember what i read, maybe someone else on here might know more,as det on a uk standard car is rare,is your car running higher boost or has it been mapped??as these are the things that can cause det if not dome properly

Zool 25 March 2005 01:45 PM

its just got a turbo back system and dumpvalve its an hks thats all its got so hopefully nowt much fingers crosed

mark6 25 March 2005 01:49 PM

try getting hold of a knock sensor of another car and try it on yours,if it cures it then its a faulty sensor,if not then it could be faulty wire or you must be getting det.

mark6 25 March 2005 01:52 PM

just read this again....

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...t=knock+sensor

if it was your knock sensor it should go into limp mode,if yours isn't then it looks like you are getting det.

Zool 25 March 2005 06:37 PM

just bin messin wi car bin for a drive no light just the clip was loose thank god so fingers crosed als well thanks for your help mate realy gratefull:thumb:
