WRX PPP To Focus RS
 

I currently have a 52 plate WRX with PPP (265) and am seriously thinking about swapping it for a Focus RS.
Everytime I see an RS I drool like a kid and I have to get it out of my system.
Torque steer and all that bo11ox doesn't bother me.
I would appreciate any advice.

Having owned a Focus RS and test driven a few WRX PPP's I would say the RS will be about the same performance.
Handling in the RS is also very good for a FWD car. I never experianced hardly any torque steer and found the car practical and not bad on juice if you didn't razz it every where.
The RS was the only car I actually made money on when I sold it and they are still holding good money today, unlike many Japanise performance cars.

Mind you after saying all that the reason I sold it not only the fact that I was offered more than I paid for it, I found after a while it was boring, and the seats squeeked like mad.

still hold there money very well so no bargains at the mo. The new ST is due out very soon and its quicker so I'm sure this will have an effect on prices (if only a little). I test drove one and was quite impressed, horrendous interior, great exterior, pay nearly new money :( for a second hand one at the mo.

it also makes an incredibly capable track vehicle. It will mince a WRX on a track.

So you experianced quite a lot? :P

I drive a 53 plate wrx, and have driven my mates focus RS. The RS was more exciting but didnt feel anywhere near as sure footed.

Torque steer imho made it more exciting :norty:

Always liked the RS, as far as 0-100 goes I don't think there is much in it. The RS will make your palms sweat abit more than a scoob though. A good thing for some.

Would love a Focus RS, and there was one parked right outside my house today, at the end of our drive :eek:

I have had Impreza Turbos for 8 years now and am getting to the point where I fancy something different.
There are a few specialist used car dealers with low milage RS's in stock. These cars have lost next to nothing in depreciation.

I have driven both a Tek3 MY00 and an RS and I must admit the RS is a better, more involving drive. Point to point I would say they were as quick as one another. I never got the chance to drive it but was a passenger once the Bluefin was fitted and OMFG !!! :eek: Perhaps a bit too much but what a fookin smile it produced :D
If it were my money I would go for the RS (my cousin lost £500 after 1 year and 10k miles:eek: )

Came close to buying an RS, Agree with the above re horrible interior and there are no bargins out there. RS is more involving drive, as have to concentrate a lot more when driving one. Definately a fun weekend car !
Why didn't by one, Squeeky seat on a car with 3K miles, worn out front tires, (I think the car had been on the track a few times)managed to get an extended test drive of 24 hours and drove it on some of my favorite roads which are quite bumpy and they where wet, just had a too harsh a ride and did not feel it could get the power down.
I'm sure on a differerent day (dry) and a smoother road it would be superb. Still feel a fettled Scoob is a better day to day car.

Heres a few pics of my 04 plate. Torquesteer is not as bad as some make out, it can catch you out, but only once ;).
Add bluefin and its certainly a spirited drive:)

I know some cannot stand the interior, but I love it, and yes my seats squeak as well.

Wot's bluefin?

Bluefin is simlair idea to Tek remap, made by superchips I think, but IMHO a damm site better in that you simply load into into the ECU, gives about 250 BHP from memory on standard car, If need to take car for service etc simply unload the performace map, relaod the standard and hey presto back to normal. Could be made into an excellent security device, park up unload the curent map, dont bother reloading the standard map. You are not going to start the car now are you Mr car thief.

That sounds excellent. Where is the ECU on the car? On the scoob it would involve pulling back passenger footwell carpet, taking bolts off ECU cover just to be able to get at it. So it would be a ball ache to use as a security device.

How do people afford such lovely cars? I earn a decent amount now, but certainly cant afford an RS in the next say 20 years ;)

Sadly not Bob, just the RS:D.
That FRP aint mine, would be nice to have both, but funds will not allow such luxuries.

There are three causes for seat squeeking, main one is the seat-belt latch rubbing on the seat, another is the mechanism itself and the other is the seat runners. Adjusting the seat just off it's bottom position (where most people have it) often cures most peoples squeeking, if not then a bit of well aimed spraylube silences it. Mine used to squeek every time I went round a corner, only took about 5 mins to fix it.

While the RS is a very good car that doesn't depreciate, any high power turbo car that doesn't have a water temp gauge and has plastic impeller blades on the water pump just gets me a bit jittery.

being a ford head really ,its funny that i personally dont rate the focus rs ,i destroyed one last year at silverstone in the xr2 turbo and for performance wise the focus is only 168 bhp per ton ,my mk1 fiesta has 175 says it all really ,if you like it buy it ,but personally i would get an escort cossie still if not just for the style and stance ;)
