Type uk or not type uk

Am I right that from 2003 onwards, you can get a Japimport Sti or a type UK Sti, and that's about it (apart from the spec C - and is that any better than the two sti's).

What's the main difference? Power, performance, comfort, interior equipment?

And why hasn't the FAQ been updated to include all new models?

I bought my 260 WRX back in '99 and found the FAQ invaluable. Now I can't work out which would suit me, UK or import.

Please, please, tell me. Amy replies or links would be very helpful,

We are working on the update of the SIDC FAQ

We hope to be able release it soon

Cheers Phil.

Can you give me any advice in the meantime?

Main Difference

JAP IMPORT

More Power
Twin Scroll Turbo
Rear Wipre
DCCD

UK STi
UK Dealer Warrenty
No need to remap for UK Fuel

Both Great Cars just depends what you want

BTW DCCD Available on UK Model from 05 Model

Spec C is lighter, and with twin scroll turbo.

A Spec C with Decat and Remap is mega fast.

Mark_S 13 March 2005 11:23 PM

Spec C has 50 litre tank iirc, others have 60 litre tank

FFS if they can have a rear wiper on Jap cars then is it really that unviable to have them on UK cars!!!!!!!!! I want one of those bitches!!! :(

:D

Thanks guys, its got me thinking.

Is the UK 265 PS and the Import 300ish. And does that alone make such a big price difference. ( I can't really pay more than £18,500 ).

Definitely want to get it right this time, having plumped for the 95 WRX instead of 96 STi when I bought mine in '99, regretted it for years.

Thanks again,

Jerry

Might also want to consider an EU import - essentially same spec as UK but initially cheaper to buy..

and eventually harder to sell ?

pin777 14 March 2005 05:26 PM

buy my july04 sti ppp type uk (8mths old)

£22,000 ovno

Mark_S 14 March 2005 05:45 PM

The import will give up to 320bhp mapped on Optimax and lots of torque. The UK fitted with PPP gives about 305bhp, so no lack of power from either. I have the import fitted with the twin scroll, it spools up very early compared to my last Impreza.

Not necessarily harder altho px may be more difficult with a main dealers but residual value will be less..

donutman 14 March 2005 08:53 PM
