Well after six months of solid graft, and fortunes spent, my typeR is back on the road,

full engine rebuild inc. new turbo, and full respray,

finally got it on the road yesterday and seeing as it was bought with a blown engine its the first time ive had it out, im like a kid with a new toy,

Thanks to all the guys on here who have helped me out with bits and info,

heres a couple of pics, I,ll post a few more in a few days with carbon scoop and splitter on,

love it, but a personal preference owuld be normal diamond (what ever they callem) lights and the later front bumper, then its perfect

What made you buy one with a blown engine?[/,

it was one of those ebay bargains!,(i thought at the time) i swapped it for a 95type ra and i kept the wheels, the ra was on the hpi register (cat c) and this is ones clear,so i couldnt really resist it, all the engine work and paint has been done by friends in the trade (ive been saving favours up!!!)

the day i got it - 4 different shades of yellow and a few dents

aaaargh, i would have kept the ra to save the hasstle but then again u did get a type R on the road at the end of the day.

Btw it doesnt look bad in its older pics, u just need them red Type R stickers and ure done

There was a limited run of them when the STI 3 Type R was available in yellow.

andyd9577 16 February 2005 01:39 PM

This is the original Yellow colour code 518 (bright Yellow)

and it is one of the first typeRs and i believe it was a limited ed, called the "signature collection"

thanks for the comments
the white one was good but lacked the extras of the typeR also the issue of the cat-c write off was a little alarming,

i enjoyed putting all the extras on the ra over the 12 months i had it -but i wanted a new project and the type r fitted the bill at the time, it was newer had 2 doors and the DCCD,

also mate, the houses are in lancashire, and I hope they reminded you of good times as a student!!!

cheers,Andy

Looks great Andy.

Looking forward to seeing the carbon scoop and splitter as they're the 2 items I've been after for months.

I dub thee Banana Man :D

looks lovely, not keen on the carbon scoop, I think it would look better if you had the whole bonnet in carbon (personally)
