Why are you changing from NIS?

Just found it slow and cumbesome, also i was unable to disable certain options, for example if i copy a file from floppy drive to my hard drive then is get scanned, which is fair enought, but then if i copy the same file to a different folder on the same drive, then Norton Scans it again, its just things like this..

Insterstingly BitDefender has so far found about 14 Trojans that NIS has missed !!

I have NIS 2004 and it does not rescan files moving around the hard drives. I have installed NIS on a number of PC's and agree it can be slow on startup if the PC is of a low spec. You should not even notice it installed if you have a pc of decent spec and it is running correctly.

Consider having a look at the PC before you jump ship.

Intel 3ghz HyperThreaded, 2gig of RAM and the SATA disks are striped is the spec of my machine....yeah its not so much the slowness, its more the configuration of it...anyway i have removed it for the time being, whilst i evalute this BitDefender, next stop McAffee.

I tried McAffee, I may not have set it up correctly, but just didn't like the way it didn't seem to fully integrate with the Windows user accounts I had set-up. Seemed to prompt each time for the admin user details...

So I'm running NIS again - binned McAffee.

Kaspersky is the dogs danglies ;)

I use McAfee - which I've never had a problem with - at home or work. Kaspersky is picking up a lot of awards at the moment though. The lowest rating one at the moment seems to be Panda.

Norton Internet Security - pah! I'd rather have a virus than have that installed...

Should be renamed as "Norton Computer Crippler".

this month in pc pro there is a good feature on this. Interestingly NIS gets a good write up. F-secure gets the best review as a combined package and there is also reviews of dedicated firewalls, virus checkers etc
