The car has no badges on wat so ever, plus on docs it just says impreza and next to model it says nothing! so we had to do our own research, we bought it with him SAYING it was WRX and that was fine with us as it is our first scooby!
:)
An yes we do Know our cars but when a car has no badges or no meantion of model on docs it gets you thinking!!!

messiah 22 December 2004 09:50 AM

how did you find out it was an STI?

Scooby-Girl 22 December 2004 11:33 AM

? not sure hubby did all research needed so when he tells me i'll let you know?
I think it had something to do with some numbers under bonnet

T4molie 22 December 2004 12:07 PM

Result :D

Please don't take this the wrong way, but aren't just as liable for not spotting what car it was(or wasn't)? Unless it's a v2, sti's have red intake piping + an sti strut brace?

I had a V2 v-Ltd and that had the red inlet mani and the sti strut brace I thought *all* STIs had that?

Gary

Andy Porter 23 December 2004 12:31 PM

My STI 1 had no red manifold, but did have intercooler w/s, STI logo seats, STI strut brace, plaque under bonnet.

If it is a version 1 this site will be of interest to you :

Soulgirl 23 December 2004 01:28 PM

My STi2 was completely de-badged but it has all the tell-tale pink sti logos on certain engine parts and bay.

Scooby-Girl 24 December 2004 09:07 PM

only thinking its sti from numbers on vin plate after searching net and engine number and transmission number matched that of sti
engine number EJ20GDW2HE
transmision TY752VB3CA

could someone shed some light on these numbers as my information is only as accurate as the info on web site any body verify these please

cars 94 wrx at least more than happy with that :)
maybe just a bit of wishful thinking

Scooby-Girl 26 December 2004 06:35 PM

Some body, Anybody??? :(

ethanrob 26 December 2004 07:20 PM

Could this car have had an sti lump put in it to replace the wrx one, just going on what you said about the engine number

kilo_4que 27 December 2004 12:10 AM

A friend of mine had an early Sti, wasnt red top. Since hes a mechanic, last summer he stripped his whole engine, tarted it up and powder coated it blue. Hence he has a Sti with a blue top engine ;)

Dave_A 27 December 2004 09:26 AM

see http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm

The 7 digit "applied model" code found on the vehicle identification plate inside the engine bay is decoded in the following way.

1. Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
2. Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
3. Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
4. Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
5. Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
6. Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
7. Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD

I have an STi V1 and it has no red manifold, however it does have the STi strut brace, if yours is a V1 it will also have a number plaque in the engine bay next to the near side suspension strut showing which number it is and also the date built and it will have a plaque at the front saying hand crafted by STi
It should also have STi front seats and a Nardi STi steering wheel (unless changed)

Scooby-Girl 27 December 2004 09:21 PM

it dosen't have the sti stiched seats but it does have nardi steering wheel an gearstick! So if i'm right, from all engine codes and model code my car is wrx-sti model, first production???? Am i about right
