Andy,

i have no idea ;)
They sold me this with a 'monsterporting and coating'.(whatever this is)
I assumed that boostcreep would not be an issue with this turbo on a 2.0.
Is it possible to port this so i won't have any creep any more?
I believe the normal wastegate hole is 35mm and should i be able to port it to 38mm?

I've mailed deadbolt and waiting for there feedback

It will already be ported as supplied but on some cars it needs even more work to avoid creep. Not just additional porting to the wastegate opening but also the track leading to it from the exhaust inlet.

I've never experienced boost creep since I've fitted the TD05/06-20G (old one and new one) onto my STi7. Both are making no more than 0.7bar @ 7500RPM in "off" mode.
I've managed to reach surge point at 1.7bar @ 3300 RPM in 6th, that's quite above usual boost level.
Again, IMHO, that's THE turbo for a 350 to 450HP 2L engine

Not had any surge issues with my setup, am using the oem inlet pipe. Very pleased with the way the turbo goes:)

It might be the wastegate actuator which allows the flap not to open any further than 45 degrees or so. I'm going to disconnect the flap and see if it's better then. Otherwise i'll have to port te wastegatehole to the max. Unfortunately i have to take the turbo of again then :( (****ty job)

To be continued..

David MY99 03 March 2005 02:08 PM

Oke finaly the roads where clean of ice and snow and i tested it with the wastegate-flap lose.
Untill 5500 rpm it makes about 1.0bar boost then it goes very quickly
6000rpm 1.35bar - 6750 rpm 1.52bar and went off the gas.

Porting is the only way to get it solved. I hope that porting will do the job, otherwise i'm gonna sell the motherf#cker and find me an descent turbo. :)

Find AndyF and get it sorted in one go.

Taking the turbo on and off must be driving you MAD :norty:
Nearly as bad as doing gearboxes..

LOL, if done both to many times.:(
Very time consuming and exspensive.
Broke 3 5 speed gearboxes, and fitted 3 different turbo's setup and one needed a rebuild, i'm allready quicker with changing on the street as any dealer ;) (and this is for gearboxes and turbo's ).

I'm now thinking of an external wastegate, because if the turbo is off it's just al little more work to take the uppipe off also.
Is there anything where i should think about with an external wastegate?
For example: which is better an 38mm ,40mm or 46mm and why..

And Andy F is a bit out of my direction, (the netherlands) :D

You never know unless you ask!
Take a look at www.scoobymania.co.uk there is a great picture of their new external gate turbo/pipework (up pipe/down pipe/wg pipe.)

You can get a job at Prodrive soon...

David,

If you want to go external wastegate, sell the TD05 20G and take a decent Garrett! ;)

Now back to the reallity: I would port the wastegate, I've seen other cars with this turbo with no boost creep at all. (that means I could run them under 1 bar @ 7000 RPM)

Mark.

David MY99 05 March 2005 12:34 PM

That's the first solution Mark, but i've to see if this is possible. When i doubt it i go for the external wastegate. Is an 40mm external big enough or should i go smaller or bigger? And must i close the standard or kan i just split the wiring to both actuators
