Top Gear ...............

Nice to see the Discovery making it to the top of that mountain - its a pity that they spend more time being repaired than going up hills!!

If LandRover improved their build quality and relaibility they would have a winner

pslewis 07 November 2004 09:16 PM

Pete

ajm 07 November 2004 09:18 PM

They probably picked it up by helicopter and delivered it straight to customer no. 1 as per the press shot! "Delivery miles only" ;)

yoza 07 November 2004 10:19 PM

Credit, where credit is due.

It got up there, with only a few hic-ups.

I think there was a bit more to it, than what was shown on the film take.

By the way, the new Freelander is a little beastie, you should all go out late next year and buy one........PLEASE.

Ive got mouths to feed.:)

RON 07 November 2004 10:42 PM

Did anyone else notice that the continuity was crap, first the wheels were filthy, then clean, then filthy again, I reckon they washed it before he got to the top!!

No doubt. I liked the 'land anchor' device though.

Yoza - but what about that *watch* mate . ;)

not only that but on one shot there were visably deflated to help with the crap conditions, or he had a serious slow puncture, lol

Was very impresive - all those off-road settings will come in soooo useful when it's used for dropping the kids off at school in Putney High St.....

It will all be wasted of course :D

Big Col 07 November 2004 11:42 PM

mountain? it was barely 1000ft!

johnfelstead 08 November 2004 01:37 AM

you could see the weight taking over the chassis in the twisties. What a pile of poo, thats not progress putting that much weight on. :o

Buckrogers 08 November 2004 01:54 AM

Well over 2 tonne!!!

r32 08 November 2004 07:23 AM

Amazing really, and lets hope that quality with Ford is getting better ....
Good show though....

Leslie 08 November 2004 07:38 AM

I enjoyed the programme, it seems to be getting better now-maybe a slight attitude change somewhere. Always liked Joanna Lumley anyway.

Les :)

Wish 08 November 2004 08:31 AM

Wasnt it awful ! (the watch)

I think ford have done well with the new Disco. Nice of them to lend Landrover the back end of the mini transit !

LOL

Dr Hu 08 November 2004 09:28 AM

It was particularly awful - considering it cost 140,000K - I'll say that again incase you missed it - ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THOUSAND POUNDS!!

omg:(

You could buy an Aston Martin Vantage to pop down the shops in for that!!

What are they on? - I'd like to see how many they sell....... shakes head.....

M444GY 08 November 2004 06:10 PM

i work for landrover and the new disco is the bollox looks like a transit connect on drugs but its a top motor on and off road.

So? why can't you build reliable cars then????

Pete

Jen 09 November 2004 09:25 AM

They're not as bad as you lot think they are these days :p

My other half and myself have 4 between us, the ones used for off-roading just need regular maintenence and my Disco I use everyday has never let me down :)

The new disco is an amazing vehicle if you've ever seen one off road you'll be suprised. The build quality of the one I attempted to pull appart last week was amazing, I was very impressed :)

I noticed the continuity too, but put it down to the water in the peat bogs....can't really see they'd bother washing a Disco half way up a mountain!! :)

Mick 09 November 2004 12:38 PM

Awesome vehicle! :)

Was at my local dealers for a test drive last Sat. V8 SE 280 bhp :D - I do like it VERY much.

The kids & wife like the interior (but not the back end :( ) Rear row of seats much improved :)

- I was hoping to be able to get one in 3/4 yrs time when they are worth 1/3 of the purchase price but according to the dealer LR are limiting production to keep the residuals high

Tried a new Range Rover diesel - Love the looks and the interior but the engine was noisy & sluggish on pull-away :(

So might be a Legacy B4 RSK instead :p So life's not all bad ;)

Mick,

Buy the Range Rover But get a Powerlink fitted, you'll be amazed by performance change!, those vehicles are worth every penny.

New Dicovery's are amazing, Drive wonderfully and are exceptional off road.

Landrovers have only been getting better - There will be no reliabilty problem soon.

Peter

P.S, I Work for Landrover!
