First Year Body Service

Just been quoted £105 on top of £157 for 10,000 mile service.

Is this right??

jaycee 01 November 2004 04:41 PM

Sounds about right. My dealer charges about £97 IIRC.

john_s 01 November 2004 06:31 PM

Yeah... think i paid £99 for mine. Or might have been quoted £99 and paid £109, 'cause my local dealer is good at being expensive like that.

John.

Leeds dealership charges £45 & vat

Eprom 02 November 2004 12:33 PM

Then you have got year 3 and year 5 to pay for if you keep the car that long.
Just another way of extracting money from us.

Nevetas 02 November 2004 01:14 PM

what does it involve?

MattW 02 November 2004 01:26 PM

Local dealership did it free

Nevetas
They rummage around underneath for an hour and squirt some wax in to the boot lid, bonnet and bottoms of doors. Didn't even take the wheels off. If they find any flakey underseal, they should clean it off and replace it.

Charged me £85.

It involves inspecting the underbody, wheel arches and box sections, if any parts have been missed they are touched up, you have to have it done to keep the body warranty up to date.
The 3rd year on my car had the wheel arches re-touched up on the rear, but they just sprayed over all the dirt, didnt take the car back to that dealer again.

Henrik 02 November 2004 01:39 PM

My dealership never told me I had to do this at first service :(

Does it mean my body work warranty is now void? (car bought 2nd August last year)

Nick100 02 November 2004 01:53 PM

Henrik
Yes probably - has to be done after one year +/- 1 month.

RTFM

JoeyDeacon 02 November 2004 02:51 PM

It involves an easy £100 for the dealer and a car that smells of Waxoyl for a few weeks.

Have you heard of any other modern car which needs this sort of thing??? total con if you ask me.

Henrik 02 November 2004 03:02 PM

That sucks... they were keen enough to remind me to do the normal service at their premises

SirFozzalot 02 November 2004 03:55 PM

My dealer didn't mention this to me either!

wrxmania 02 November 2004 04:03 PM

You are even charged for the stamp they put in your book and the one they send to Subaru.

About £100 and 5 months after it, my car stinks of Waxoyl - very thorough job though. All doors are sprayed inside, the boot lid, the bonnet, panels, wheel arches, inner front wings etc. Takes a bit of time. Worth doing as it will make the car last a good while if you keep it, but it is one of the only manufacturers I know of who still ask for it - yet only offer a 6 year warranty on bodywork. :(
