David

alanbell 11 October 2004 05:31 PM

Oil in fmic pipes , fitted new plugs, car really strugleing to go over 3000 revs, turbo does not seem to kick in , Got a mates TDo5 to try that, >> any ideas, cheers,

David_Wallis 11 October 2004 07:45 PM

as I said to steven, check all the plugs, if all are oily then turbo oil seals, if just one or two then do a compression test.

Eitherway a compression test might be an idea before swapping turbos.

David

alanbell 11 October 2004 07:56 PM

David the old plugs were very black dry soot , like its running very rich, after swopping them , the car was just as bad, it seems to be strugleing to go, ??????

chrome 11 October 2004 08:21 PM

 hope it's not terminal ...

alanbell 11 October 2004 08:26 PM

Cheers mate >> what ever it is it will mend >>>>>> Just got to find some-one to do it ?? Local scoob garage will not really help cos of the mods on it !!! but someone somewere ??????????? cheers

chrome 11 October 2004 08:36 PM

maybe ask wallis/Steven for an 'over the phone' step by step guide to Compression testing? ;)

alanbell 11 October 2004 09:01 PM

Yep there allready,

RRH 12 October 2004 10:58 AM

also check the induction hoses- the hose that comes from the front of the intercooler can leak and cause this problem.

P20SPD 12 October 2004 11:05 AM

Alan, give me a ring tonight if you are no further forward. I can compression test it for you if need be, but it would be easier if your garage did it due to it being next door.

Report back with the results, and we will sort something out.

Wallis and i can do the work for you, as previously discussed, just let me know and we will suggest the best route to solving your problem.

Steven

alanbell 12 October 2004 12:45 PM

Ive checked all hoses, The turbos not working at 3500 revs like it used to . it does not seem to work at all, the engine just struggles to go, Garage next door was going to swop turbo over tomorrow, Alan,

chrome 12 October 2004 06:03 PM

dont suppose turbo chucked something nasty into the block??
debris/vane?
unlikely Im sure.. just clutching at straws (again)

alanbell 13 October 2004 01:04 PM

Done a compression test this morning it was OK, Now trying to borrow a maff to try that,

P20SPD 13 October 2004 01:17 PM

if it isnt that alan, then let them change the turbo over.

alanbell 14 October 2004 01:19 PM

Got a Maf (thanks Andy) >> not that,????

alanbell 14 October 2004 05:02 PM

changed the coil packs >> not that , ?????

David MY99 14 October 2004 05:31 PM

if you have bigger injectors.....take a look if all of them are stil making good contact

chrome 14 October 2004 06:03 PM

I dont suppose you've thought about ECU ?
Might be a try if you can loan one for a short test?

did the turbo get changed? was everything looking normal?

alanbell 14 October 2004 06:14 PM

I have 550 injectors, not looked there yet, My ecu is apexi power , Thats why we can not use a subaru plug in fault finder, Not swopped turbo yet,

P20SPD 14 October 2004 09:53 PM

Check all pipes to the map sensor, they may be split?

Did you check the injectors by pulling the elctrical connector off, 1 by 1 to see if it makes a difference at idle.

I dont understand why its idling badly if none of the above make any difference.

Do you have the original ecu?

Andy.F 14 October 2004 11:25 PM

You can view all the engine sensor values via the Apexi FC Commander handset if you can borrow one ?
Fuel pressure ?

alanbell 15 October 2004 11:28 AM

No not got original ecu, I will get injectors checked today, Jonny Gavs coming over on Sunday with his Commander handset , >>> When it misses at 3500 revs plus , Black smoke comes from it , ??????

alanbell 16 October 2004 01:12 PM

not the injectors,

P20SPD 16 October 2004 02:17 PM

did you check the pipes to the map sensor?

alanbell 17 October 2004 04:28 PM

At last , Jonny Gav came to York today , checked everything, ended up been the Fuel pressure recolater, big thanks to Jonny >> I was very stuck, and thanks to all above for your ideas, cheers,

chrome 17 October 2004 05:11 PM

which reg was it that you were using Alan?

Bob Rawle 17 October 2004 05:43 PM

Hmm if its an FSE I've got to the point where I am NOT suggesting the use of one, I'd rather map to the oem reg on earlier than MY01 cars than take the risk that the reg may go faulty at some indeterminate point in time.

bob

chrome 17 October 2004 05:48 PM

GB on SX? :D

Andy.F 17 October 2004 06:06 PM

Go for it mate, or an aeromotive, I'll have one :)
