Converting TD05 to Front Entry?

Was thinking of converting a 90deg entry TD05 to front entry.

Anybody done this DIY? Looks fairly straight forward....remove housing...cut off 90 bend and cut off intake housing and weld the same intake hardpipe back onto the cover?

Am I missing something or is it really that straight forward?

All responses welcomed.

Yes, it's 'almost' that straight forward, I've done over 50 of them now :)

You will need to machine the bore to avoid a step in diameter though, also I'd recommend sleeving instead of welding to reduce distortion, these compressor wheels run with a tight clearance.

Andy: Tools required for the job would be? To bore and make slit for sleeve? Have only basic tools here....no metal lathe or the like.

Do you have any pics knocking around?

I did my spare one the other day :D - You will need a lathe to machine the internal bore of compressor cover to take sleeve and I used a press to push sleeve into cover (Interference fit) As Andy has said it is almost straight forward :D :D

Cheers

Andy

Throw in some aftersales support on how to do it and you've got a deal.

PM payment details. Bank transfer would be best.
