Koenigsegg- Is this the fastest production car?

Is it faster than the Mclaren F1?

I want one!- Can we do a group buy?

I was aware of the even faster version the CCR after reading about it earlier this year in Evo mag, and i'm amazed that no ones really mentioned it, just going about the Buggati all the time.

..I think it cerainly will be the fastest, they are aiming for 400kph in the CCR... certainly once the 806bhp CCR version is tested anyway. We are talking about a car here that only weighs 40kg off a Mac F1 with similar areodynamics but has 180bhp more, thats if the quoted bhp is correct. The normal CC8S has 655bhp and looks very very fast, but I am not aware of any figures on that either.

From the acceleration point of view, and using my site, the estimated figures come up as..

Power at Flywheel (BHP) 806
Weight without Driver (KG) 1180
Drive Type Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)
Power To Weight Ratio (BHP/Ton) 694.02
0-60mph (Secs) 2.79
0-100mph (Secs) 5.01
60-100mph (Secs) 2.21
Quarter Mile (Secs) 10.39 @ 147.07 MPH
Drag Quarter Mile (Secs) 10.29 @ 148.73 MPH

Could ve very quick then!

NISR227, I am surprised by the lack of interest on the car and the huge amount of praise the Mclaren has got.

Ok all things are due, the Mclaren is normally aspirated etc. so a great feat of engineering. But I have seen the Koenigsegg in the flesh parked in Kew and the car is gorgeous. Never seen a car wih such presence and a car so rare.

my favourite car for sure!!!
I have the poster which i ordered from their website

just been looking at website-wet dream material or what......

Quicker than a Mclaren F1? Quite probably. Sub 6 to 100? Maybe, but it won't do a 5.01. Sorry, not meaning to rubbsh your site, but I don't believe that as a figure.

Recently Ultima picked up the 0-100-0 record, with a N/A car weighing just under a tonne, and pulling 640bhp Similar power to weight ratio in a GT race series proven chassis (i.e decent traction) - and that took 5.9 0-100. And it costs a lot less than the Mclaren or the Koenigsegg, and I somehow suspect all three will beat a scoob through the twisties. ;)

Its ugly as sin though, i think it looks awful, really awkrard and disproportioned. I actually really dont like it to be honest.

Autocar magazine got hold of one for the road tests. It didn't come even close to the claimed performance figures, notching up fairly average times. They said it didn't feel like it was producing anywhere near the claimed power output.

nisr227 22 September 2004 08:09 AM

Hades, i'm not personally saying it will do 5seconds to 100, but its between 60-100 where the extra bhp should show up providing the areodynamics are as good as they say they are, and as I said earlier, "if" it has the quoted bhp then it wouldn't be too far off, but I agree with an earlier comment, a few mags have tested the current car and got no where near the expected figures, so it questions the bhp levels. But if it does have a 806bhp then its a similar power to weight than the fastest of the rare but genuine 1000bhp Skylines who can go that fast, but have better traction, it would have the potential if it was as fast as they led us to believe.
By the way, the ultima (640 spec) is on on list, and gets nearly spot on figures acheived, which is interesting.

Oh dear. Heat soak, perhaps?

ScoobyLee 22 September 2004 11:49 AM

TopGear had one to test! Clarkson flew it round the track!

Click here for pics and Vid Oh and you need to be registered to view pics.. Oh.. and you need to post about 5-10 times..! :p Trust me.. well worth it..! As we have loads of vids!!

Nat 22 September 2004 04:12 PM

evo also couldnt get one to perform anywhere near the claimed times.

Pavlo 26 September 2004 12:07 PM

let's wait until it's actually tested. Most production car figures these days are calculated figures.

What about the bugatti veyron. W16 8 litres 4 turbos and a 1001bhp. VW are claiming over 400kph (250+mph) top speed and 0 to 200kph (124mph) in 6 secs.

dpb 26 September 2004 02:48 PM

have ta say i aint desperate about the lines :(..............(bugatti that is)

RAJ27 26 September 2004 11:19 PM

Is the Bugatti officially out yet?

Seems to be delayed again and again......possibly waiting to be adapted to share the same chassis as the MK5 VW Golf :)
