STI7/8 Intercooler on Classic???

Anybody carried out this conversion yet?

Is it possible even?

Jolly Green Monster 23 August 2004 12:48 PM

Yes it is possible..

do a search here and on bbs.22b.com

got a vague answer to my question here, apparently it's possible, but i was hoping for some words of wisdom from anyone who'd actually done it!

will check out 22.com now!

Ive seen it done on a rb5 he used one of the original mounting points and extened the other one. You have to use the dump valve from the new age.Depends which car you've got though i dont think it would fit on a pre face lift.

JohnRB5 has done this conversion, I don't think it was that difficult.

i have fitted a sti 7/8 intercooler to a 99uk classic, not a hard job but there are a few things you need before starting the conversion.

90 deg 51mm silicone hose.
brackets from the v7/8 intercooler
brake fluid
sti7/8 dump valve/ blanking plate

on the left side use the bracket from the v7/8.

on the right you will have to bend the original (harder than it sounds)

you also need to cut 2cm from the bottom of the plastic bit on the clutch res.

hope this helps

does the v7/8 rhs bracket not fit the earlier engine?

jonny gav 15 September 2004 07:24 AM

no, it comes from the manifold not the block like the left side, the manifolds are completely different.
