A bit kooky, but I like her. As has been said though, pictures of her are hard to come by. All the half-decent ones have been posted here already, although i haven't scoured the, er "alternative" sources... ;)

That's always been my opinion of her too:)

Altohugh these days I tend more towards the feeling that she is a plant. Channel 4 have sent her to the BBC with the sole intention of making 'All Gob & No Neck' McCall look good;)

Senior_AP 16 August 2004 11:18 AM

She's ok. Fair pair of twaps but other than that, not really fussed.

What is the meaning of *surrounding* words with asterisks? Is it to emphasise the word or is it a replacement for "inverted" commas? Also, what is it's origin - is it Americanised English or has it come from some computer language that has crossed over into mainstream English?

It is a way of emphasising, or perhaps "bolding" a word where bold is not available - ie, in basic ASCII. Of course, bold is available on SN, so bold would be preferred :D

To put it in quotes would not be emphasis.....

Emphasises a word. Is when I do it anyway.

TelBoy 16 August 2004 12:06 PM

Sometimes i use asteriskes, sometimes i use the italicization (lol) function. :)

No, doesn't work does it.

No, in ASCII surrounding a word with asterisks is bold, surrounding it with underscores, like _this_, is italics

TelBoy 16 August 2004 01:45 PM

ASCII??

Wossat then? :)
