New Maxtor was bought and prepared with all the software ready to swap when I had the time before it failed.

Typically it went tits up on my day off :rolleyes:

But most stuff was backed up and is safe :cool:

Been there, done that - on a five month old drive. Luckily it was the Linux test bed so not terminal.

lol... between myself & brothers we chalked-up 3 IBMs before we 'learned'! (2 Deskstars + 1 Ultrastar, IIRC).

I had two deskstars about 3 years ago, both went only h/d that have every failed on me, quick search found whole websites dedicated to unhappy customers, wouldn't touch one again. Maxtor now ;)
