Hybrid FMIC fitted at last

After spending all weekend cutting my bumper (and myself) i finally got the new Hybrid FMIC fitted and i think its a fantastic piece of kit, just a bit of a pain to fit,but after a couple of days throwing hacksaws and spanners up the road and filling up the swear tin its finished.

Looks like a good job, but I don't like the STI logo, sorry. :(

But each to theit own and all that. :)

16vmarc 02 August 2004 07:24 PM

Very nice.

fuz 02 August 2004 07:45 PM

just need to move the number plate and it will be finished

scooby-tc 02 August 2004 07:50 PM

I thought about moving the number plate but realised there was nowhere to put it that looks any good.Having it on a splitter as a sticky job looks cr@p and i cant have a square one (evo style) as i use the driving lights so as its a small plate and is no bigger than the moulded numberplate mount on the bumper its staying.

As for the STi logo,i wasnt really sure about it to start with but the more i look at it the more it grows on me,besides it is more appealing to the eyes (well mine anyway) than the plain bland look.

I appreciate the comments good and bad
cheers guys

aceman_uk 02 August 2004 08:40 PM

Scooby-TC

That looks sweeeet :D

BTW where did you get the P1 style fogs and bulbs? Cant seem to find where to get the bulbs from.....DR Motorsport can source me the bumper and fog surround BUT no luck with the Fog lights :(....

Any Advice???

Aceman...

scooby-tc 02 August 2004 08:47 PM

Aceman,i bought the 90mm driving lights direct from Hella iirc £48 + VAT each.Ive got the invoice somewhere,if i can find it i'll PM you the part numbers :D

gljam 02 August 2004 08:54 PM

Does look good mate, got to agree about the number plate though, any way you could trim it down a bit? just so it doesn't cover the logo ;)

scooby-tc 02 August 2004 09:00 PM

Cheers Jammer,i did think about trimming it down but i dont really want to increase the chances of getting a tug by the boys in blue any more than i am already. So far they havent battered an eyelid but for how long i dont know. After all i can just remove it for shows, meets etc :D

gljam 02 August 2004 09:02 PM

Yeah see your point there chief, how's it affected it performance wise? noticed a big difference or not?

scooby-tc 02 August 2004 09:05 PM

Not as yet as the car hasnt been remapped yet so im driving around off boost to prevent the chances of running lean but once remapped there should be a significant increase.Just waiting on the ECU to be delivered ready for the Andy F treatment :D :D

gljam 02 August 2004 09:07 PM

cool, sounds sweet as mate :)

aceman_uk 02 August 2004 09:10 PM

I'm saying nothing, mate, except it was the first thing to go ;)

scoobchrissy 04 August 2004 12:00 AM

Look's great m8, cant wait till i get round to doing it :D

I agree with the plate but where else can you put it ??

scooby-tc 04 August 2004 12:06 AM

Theres nowhere else to put the plate and being only 3/4 size anyway it doesnt obstruct much air, bearing in mind the size of the FMIC.Scoobychrissy its a must have mod IMO for the money anyway, just a pig to fit.

I dont mind people slagging it as long as there is a valid reason. All feedback is good.I dont appreciate kids trolling threads looking for a reaction

Buzzer 04 August 2004 12:12 AM

tc,

Can you put a price to it all?

I'd be interested to know just how much that lot cost :)

Not sure whether i could do the "pig of an installation" though :(

scooby-tc 04 August 2004 12:20 AM

The FMIC was part of Harveys group buy which was conducted on 22b.com this time round but the total cost was £575 delivered to your door. The only pig of a job bit was the bumper cutting which took forever but the finished article is well worth the agro as many people who have done this mod will confirm.Go on you know you want to :D

Buzzer 04 August 2004 12:31 AM

LOL :D

£575.00 sounds good :) Are all the fitments the same for a bugeye?

scooby-tc 04 August 2004 12:37 AM

I couldnt possibly comment on a bugeye fitment.Harvey is the man to speak to regarding this.I'd imagine that the fitment would be pretty damn similar.

ScoobywagonGl 04 August 2004 07:37 AM

 your still here then kid! knew the insults would yet again go to my car :D

we did spend ages placing numberplate in different places but they all looked rubbish! the mounting plate bit for the number plate is pretty much the same size as his number plate so as he said it isnt bocking out much air!
I think it looks better there! Having seen some other cars i'm not sure it looks too good to one side (like the evo's) plus then he would lose one of his driving lights! :(

quicksprint 04 August 2004 07:53 AM

Darren..my plate is fitted to one side evo style and the driving/fog light is not obscured. If you want to have a look then Ian knows where i live and you are more than welcome to come and have a look!!
BTW ...how is the tdo6 running on tam's GL ? ;);)
steve

ScoobywagonGl 04 August 2004 08:04 AM

the TDO6 is running just fine ... so fine infact it almost feels as if it isnt there  :p

Buzzer 04 August 2004 08:27 AM

Couldn't the plate be fitted to the front lip?

scooby-tc 04 August 2004 03:36 PM

I dont like numberplates on the front lip anymore i think they look well out of place.I'd gain no advantage moving the plate because the mouded numberplate mount on the bumper is the same size as the plate and it cant be removed without destroying the bumper so its staying put :p
