scoobyp1 26 July 2004 03:57 AM

corradoboy 26 July 2004 03:59 AM

"One More Chance Baby" on the bootlid :(

Impact at 100kph (60mph ish) and the airbag looks intact

Dude! 26 July 2004 06:44 AM

airbag sensors are very low down - that car wend under the lorry so nowhere near the sensors

corradoboy 26 July 2004 07:19 AM

I thought they were based on deceleration by having a ball bearing (or similar) held across 2 contacts by magnetism. If the whole car decelrates suddenly, the bearing is thrown free by inertia and deploys the system.

Or am I wrong

Wasn't it a thieves trick in early Ford airbag systems to bump the front at very low (5mph) speed to dislodge the bearing. When the system activates it unlocks the car and disables the alarm/immobilisor so as not to hinder potential emergency services. If they deploy with such little provocation, that one should surely have gone off.

StickyMicky 26 July 2004 08:20 AM

any pics of the car un smashed?

i dont like it at all, but i want to look at it, it looks pretty extreme

swaussie 26 July 2004 12:01 PM

Think ScoobyP1 might be right as it looks like an Aussie numberplate and the truck has aussie markings on it. Shocking crash.

Little Miss WRX 26 July 2004 12:15 PM

It was in Adelaide IIRC.

16vmarc 27 July 2004 07:57 PM

Nasty

Danny B 27 July 2004 08:35 PM

That is the most disgusting looking Impreza I have ever seen in my life
Absolutely foul colour.
I note there are no skid marks, perhaps he fell asleep at the wheel?

steppers 28 July 2004 07:28 AM

What planet are you on :freak3:  how can it be knock for knock? It's the scoob drivers fault, the back of his car is undamaged and the front is totalled so he has driven into the truck at 60mph. Simple

DarrenC 28 July 2004 01:19 PM

Stueyb 28 July 2004 02:46 PM

It is most likely (but not 100%) aussie because the url of the pics is an australian ISP. Reckon he'll break it for spares :norty:

Check out this blokes mrs btw, id give her one ;) http://members.optusnet.com.au/wrxevo7/MilliS.JPG

mynickers 28 July 2004 02:57 PM

Ooouch..

Lorries really can do some damage, surely if the bar was lower it would actually be safer, as the car wouldn't go under!?

ScoobyDuck 28 July 2004 06:46 PM

ooh. that looks bad!
bit worried about the trainer in the 3rd picture
& then the cut up jeans in the 4th . looks like someone was trapped. :(

horrible colour yeah - but have you seen a WR1 in the flesh ? :p

steppers 29 July 2004 12:59 AM

ay paul get to grips with the joke mate
and stueyb do you have to lower the standard????????
Mind you id give her one myself!

MichelleWRX1994 29 July 2004 04:59 AM

The ambulance emergency number is 000. (Aussie)
The number on the truck has a dialling code of 08. (South Aussie although the truck could have been travelling interstate)
The number plate looks Vic at first glace, but then I haven't seen a SA plate yet.
I just got told that it apparently happened in Adelaide.
Also looks like the force of the car hitting has actually snapped the lower bar so I dbout whether or not it being lower would have made much difference.
I don't know much about the car, but the airbags may well have been disabled if it is possible to do that with the passenger side?
This has been posted up over on Aus sites a while ago, but I am unsure of whether the driver was ok.
