STI V8 engine into GC8 [need help]
Hello,
I just want to collect some information for a friend who has blown his EJ20. He wants to purchase a JDM STI8 engine and he wonders if he will have troubles with the immobilizer. The engine will be complete with ECU, harness, MAF. The fuse box, engine relay, immobilizer, neiman and ignition keys are not provided. Do you think he will have trouble firing up the engine, without the immobilizer ? Maybe the GC8 stock immobilizer can be hooked somewhere ? Does an ECUTEK reflash could solve this problem ? As the JDM ECU is mapped to work with japaneese RON100, a reflash is absolutely necessary, case else, he will have to add octane booster ? Thanks for the infos on the topic. But there is no immobiliser on JDM's, I would say a re-flash would be a sensible thing seeing how mine ran stock Cheers Simon |

You may want to ask others with JDM vehicles / engines but mine did not have one and the cars we bring in to convert to Group N and WRC do not either
