how to test your turbo?

dont know whether this is a silly question or not,

but my car doesent seem to be performing as well as it did before i fitted a scoobysport back box and k+n panel filter.

one minute it will shoot of,the next its like going no where?
so was wondering if this could be something to do with the turbo?

i dont have a boost gauge.

any ideas

cheers dannytwo

The boost gauge is pretty much essential when trying to establish if the turbo is doing what it should be. :) I'd be amazed if the mods you've made would make a detrimental effect to the performance of the car. Probably just a coincidence.

Without knowing what boost pressure your turbo's creating, it's pretty difficult to diagnose the fault. However, that said, there are a couple of things that immediately spring to mind, but they're dependent on a couple of factors. What MY are we talking about? What gears does it do it in? What revs? What fuel do you use...?
