160 miles a tank?

OK, who can tell me how to get than 160 (ish) miles out of a full tank in a MY03 WRX STI PPP Type UK?

Is this normal or is it because of the brick I keep in my right shoe ;o)

dpb 18 May 2004 10:52 PM

over 280 horses  good work :D

MontyTheGod 18 May 2004 11:02 PM

Ouch...

I get 260 miles outta my uk my98 turbo 2000...... standard all motorway twice a week.

coulty 18 May 2004 11:19 PM

wow....i 'only' get 280-300 miles outta my MY96 sti and i thought that was bad enough

scoobytravis 18 May 2004 11:48 PM

Lucky if I see over 200 miles per tank MY99 UK turbo ECUTEK/Full Decat
Mainly "urban" driving"..... Think I may have squeezed 250 on motorway run
Do you guys keep off boost....have you taken off the turbo? or just light footed???

Graham ;-)

I assume you spend most of the time off boost?

Jasoon 19 May 2004 05:32 AM

im getting approx 330 miles on a tank in my MY04 WRX PPP ,that will soon change when she's run in :)

scoobywrc 19 May 2004 07:53 AM

I also have a MY03 WRX STI PPP Type UK & get about 280 miles a tank.

sti joy 19 May 2004 08:02 AM

:D 180 to 230 for me, but who worries. :D

colin c 19 May 2004 08:14 AM

94 WRX, 130 miles to a tank on a run, I have got type RA gearing though and lots of mods ;)

Colin

mrklaw 19 May 2004 08:24 AM

WRX03, about 260 before I fill up, but thats only 35-40 litres (fill up early)

Whats the approximate off boost point in 5th on a WRX03? If I'm on a motorway for a long time, I'd prefer to be off boost, but what speed should I be doing to be sure I'm not on boost?

Just got 274 out of last tank (STi8 Non PPP). Worked out to about 20mpg but with no fun. That is the most miles I have had since owning the car.

Does PPP actually improve consumption? My dealer said it does but I assumed that was just a sales pitch!

cheeky69er 19 May 2004 10:23 AM

I get about 300 miles to a tank in standard MY98 Uk Turbo - some m'way, some twisties, varied driving.

scooby L 19 May 2004 11:04 AM

STI MY03 Ecutek'd to 290bhp

230-260 miles on a tank

Mikkk 19 May 2004 12:26 PM

Standard MY03 STi Type UK
driving ms.daisy style: 28-30mpg easily attained (65-70mph on RoadAngel)*
driving enjoyably: 20-25mpg usual result

Latest run from Bristol->Southampton (M32/M4/A34/M3+town work):
125 miles, 20 litres optimax squeezed back into tank = 28.41mpg (approx)
+2 waves from fellow Scoobs on the M4

*hard to maintain, having other cars overtake you just doesn't feel right in the Scoob :D

MY 03 PPP Sti,

Usually get around 220 to 260 miles If driven hard about 160 to 180

Best I have got is 340 miles on a run from Essex to bristol and back doing 70 MPH all the way and a ickle bit faster on the return journey

Trumble 19 May 2004 01:58 PM

std MY02 - 280 miles on 50-52 litres.

MY03 STi TypeUK (nonPPP)

About the same as mine :)

Fizz_daz 19 May 2004 02:07 PM

normally about 280 from a tank (MY01 PPP, Sports cat exhaust)

However on spirited driving and track day work about 90 miles :D

Absolute Shower 19 May 2004 03:01 PM

My MY02 wiv 400 BHP still gives 300 to a tank when driven easy...about 240 when hard. All down to a custom tek 3 map I think (much better than std subaru maps - cheers Pat!)

marky1 19 May 2004 03:45 PM

MY03 sti PPP about 150 miles to tank around central london. Terrible I think

RB5_245 19 May 2004 03:51 PM

MY99uk 320bhp+, my best run, a day on the motorway was 360miles on a tank, all sat at 70mph.

Varied driving is 220miles per tank, my worst was about 170 and that was just: go out, warm up, thrash, cool down. Stop. Start again.....

For anyone who's getting less than ~250 miles to a tank (60l one) on long journeys & car is more than 2 years old - buy a new lambda sensor. It'll pay for itself in no time!

mannin 20 May 2004 08:56 AM

bit of an update

turned out not to be 160 miles, but 130 miles.....

I'm gonna try a tank full of slow driving  (if I can manage it) and see what it does (other than bore me half to death) !!!

MattW 20 May 2004 09:15 AM

Bl00dy hell some of those figures are wince inducing.

As a comparison EVO 8 FQ330, I'm getting 20mpg round town consistently.

Dark Blue Mark 20 May 2004 09:33 AM

Nom, agreed on that one, it makes a big difference, and worth changing every couple of years...

Got a fully de-catted MY00 Turbo 2000 and got from Hameln, Germany to Hook of Holland port (260miles) on just under a full tank, i did touch 245kmh (150mph) a couple of times too!

Incidently, German Shell garages stock V-Power which is 100 Octane and is around 90p a litre! Its just been introduced in Holland and Belgium and will hopefully be here soon!
