nope. I've had one outage in about 3 years with my BY connection. Could be a problem in your area. Have you checked the BY site?

Steve Perriam 08 May 2004 05:08 PM

np with my conn.

hope u get it sorted.

Tim-Grove 09 May 2004 11:54 AM

Ive had a prob like that over the past week or so, the connection has gone down 3 or 4 times and the only way to sort it is by reseting the modem. Dont know why this has started happening, bit of a pain in the ass:mad:

BuRR 09 May 2004 03:04 PM

Might be something to do with the speed upgrades they're doing in May?

Stueyb 09 May 2004 03:51 PM

I have the same problem on ntl and it was rock steady until midweek !

eddie h 09 May 2004 06:32 PM

i went to the by site, but nothing listed, so i decided to click their complaints button...you guessed it ..it lost connection and wouldn't reconnect.

So i've not really used it much this weekend, but touch wood it seems fine at the moment, been on' tinternet 'bout a hour or so now with no foul ups.

Thanks for your replys,

eddie

Burr-speed upgrades?
That explains why my download speed has suddenly increased by 50%
Now achieving 90Kb/s
Sorry eddie this is not much help is it.

BuRR 11 May 2004 08:22 AM

Mine too. Mine's now hitting 150kbYtEs / sec

wideboyuk 11 May 2004 10:55 AM

Yes they are upgrading speeds FOC by 50% so ur standard broadband is now 728kbs! :)

Graz 11 May 2004 12:45 PM

Does say somewhere on the blueyonder web site that your cable modem will be reset as part of the upgrade and hence the connection dropped.

Not done mine yet, well not that I've noticed.

Tim-Grove 11 May 2004 07:23 PM

think mine has been done getting 90k/sec downloads now:D:D

wideboyuk 12 May 2004 08:42 AM

If you run a speed test http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp/ what speeds are u getting on ur BY connection?
Thanks

eddie h 12 May 2004 06:44 PM

Still unreliable, but here are my speeds:

Downstream 779 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 123 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Steve Perriam 12 May 2004 08:03 PM

Weren't doing anything!
I get download speeds of around 60kb/sec on bittorrent sometimes upto 100kb.
But the speed test shows bad figures!
It was run on a 400mhz machine, that shouldnt matter should it?
