Greenlight will do a policy extension for each trackday if you are insured with them. It is £85 per event which is half the price of other insurance policies for the day only.

Ask them what is included in their track insurance. When I spoke to them, if someone hits you, you are expexted to claim off their insurance! There were a number of other get out clauses they quoted me which would be difficult to prove either way. Phrases like "Not driving stupidly" and "No one else near you on the track" are a couple of gems which spring to mind.

Eggar Lawson (aka Competition Car Insurance) are probably the best people.

"Trackday" insurance is for damage to your own vehicle only. T-bone another car & you are not covered. The reason for this that in "competition" it's almost considered as your own fault whatever for getting hit, or that you are to blame for being in the wrong place/wrong time, by dint of being on the same track as the person that hits you. That is the "accepted" way.

May not work like that on a trackday or in your mind, so best to make sure.

My policies with HIC cover track-days but as said above, it only covers my own car and damage to armco/pitwall/other track fittings.
reading the policy I seriously doubt I would actually be able to claim for most incidents as there are so many vague areas they would use to get out of paying.

I'm with AoN who cover certain track days on my policy for a nominal amount (IIRC 15-20 quid per event). I've only been covered on one track day, and after doing a few that weren't covered doubt I'll ever bother getting cover again.
I'd rather just drive within my own abilities and if anyone else is being a danger just report them to the track day organisers.
