Slightly out of date meat

Hello

I have some mince meat that went out of date yesterday. It's a little bit brown (but red in the middle).

Am I going to either die or spend a very exciting night on the toilet if I eat it?

(My wife is currently away: Otherwise she would have simply looked at me in disgust and thrown it away!)

Steve.

will be ok. as long as it's cooked properly.

Just cook it well! (and get the toilet door open... just in case!! ;) )

What meat is it. If its been wrapped in supermarket clingfilm its probably old anyway as they put preservatives in it to make it stay "fresher" longer.

It wont hurt you if you cook it to 70+c.

If its beef it'll taste better if its older.

Chip.

Hello

Thank you for the replies. It is Sainsbury's lean beef mince meat.

I am just cooking it with Chilli sauce.

Steve.

woah! this thread is about meat, not a outlet for NF/BNP codswallop. Start a new thread for that ;)

"hows my meat" to "send them packing" in 5 posts! its like 6 degrees of kevin bacon, only with imigrants and errrr....beef, not bacon.

The expiry date is just a recomended guideline. Should be okay I think.

I've eaten mince older than that, you'll be fine!!

Do a chilli with it and bung plenty of cayenne powder and habeneros in - that'll sort out any bacteria!!

You some kinda tramp? Today it's slightly out of date meat, tommorow it's rummaging through the bins out back of McDonalds. ;)

Eat it hot. That will kill the maggot infestation. ;)

You a health freak or something? I didnt know you like yogurt too?

Just make sure you brown it thoroughly first with some chopped onion, then give your chilli mix a good 45mins simmering, you'll be fine. As Chip says, beef tastes better when it's aged some anyway;)

Get down ya neck.

Most of us will have eaten out of date meat if we've ever eaten at any restaurant or fast food outlet.
