LOL :D

I knew from the previous activity he'd probably be up to it so when we went through a motorway gasto at a fixed speed (obviously) we took the chance to 'gun' it on the other side. Being a smart ar%e I thought I'd try and take him in 5th  He started to pull away  I then made a dash for 3rd but accidently put it back into 5th  Still he pulled away. I finally got 4th and eventually start to claw it back but the damage was done :D

There will be an interesting conversation somewhere in a pub tonight ;):D

SiDHEaD 08 January 2004 06:45 PM

some volvo thing stuck to my arse last nite when i booted it out of a 50 into NSL dual carriageway.. Gutted :( Can't afford a new car..

LG John 08 January 2004 07:01 PM

...what about new mods though ;):D

WRX_Rich 08 January 2004 08:01 PM

Andy get the old ecu tek done, they won't keep up then :D

Trem 08 January 2004 08:07 PM

Some of the Volvos are quick though, some are around 250 bhp. I use a Saab 9000 turbo for my work car, its 13 years old and done 150'000 miles, it ain't as fast as my scooby but it isn't slow, it would give a uk scooby a run for its money, it wasn't that far behind an Evo 5 once, admittedly the guy pulled away but it wasn't as devastating as you would imagine. I had to get a scoob after I was beaten by an Uno turbo in the Saab though.

Spooks 08 January 2004 08:12 PM

lol how could you let this happen...... now every cap wearing nova boy will think there rally beaters LMAO ;)
I would have loved to have been in the Nova for this, metaphorically speaking of course :D

highlander68k 08 January 2004 09:37 PM

I've heard of one guy saying his Volvo done 197mph (co-bu11****-ugh!) when it had NOS installed.

I'll find the link when barryboys is back up, it's a hilarious read.

SUBTYPER 08 January 2004 09:42 PM

HEy Saxo you should post this on the Nova boards mate they wont believe you lol.

MGJohn 08 January 2004 11:18 PM

Sounds like you beat yourself .....;)

JBONDO1 08 January 2004 11:58 PM

Thing is though you don't know what under the bonnet of some of these novas, just put a 2.0 16valve in them and in the dry on a straight your knackered

SiDHEaD 09 January 2004 01:30 AM

Rich i was going to get in on the groupbuy.. but i've got myself in a nice load of debt over the past year, which is preventing it...

Andy

Jiggerypokery 09 January 2004 08:43 AM

I was behind one of the fast Volvos a few nights ago. He booted it on a sliproad, but I managed to catch up ;) just to read his boot badge... V70R. Then I checked my back issues of Evo, the first one I looked at (August 2003) flopped open at page 134 - spooky or what! V70R, 294 BHP, 0-100 in 17.6. :)

nescoob 09 January 2004 09:20 AM

I nearly got beat by a nova about a month ago, indicated and went to pull out on a dual carriage way when he flew past me and I was doing about 80, caught him up and went past him and I floored it, he was only about a 1/2 mile behind at the end of about a 3mile stretch of road. Later found out that he has a calibra turbo engine in it and has nos. I was driving my 98Type R

Jolly Green Monster 09 January 2004 09:21 AM

Sure it wasn't fuel cut the slowed you down mate?? :)

JGM :D

p1doc 09 January 2004 11:43 AM

you mean fuel surge, i hear this afflicts your car at such times
martin

Eder22b 09 January 2004 11:46 AM

that's really bad my friend

bluenosewrx 09 January 2004 12:06 PM

Did the NOVA have gold wheels LOL.

chiark 09 January 2004 12:10 PM

So what you got beaten?

Some of these novas have 2 litre+ turbo engines dropped into 'em. Fair play I say, but OTOH you can't polish a ....

The turbo'd saab and volvos are rapid in the midrange. A mate with a rather nicely modified Scoob is slightly wary of a 9-5 aeros midrange explosiveness. 210bhp with a lot less transmission loss than we have to worry about means the thing goes well once traction is there :D

Simonz 09 January 2004 12:21 PM

those Nova's r just Tooooooo fast! LOL

LG John 09 January 2004 01:01 PM

Chairk this one didn't have a massive engine as the scooby was quicker. Just not so much quicker that I could take the micky out of him by using top gear when he'd dropped. Its just funny that I made such a cods-ear of it when I decided to try and 'race'* :)

* Usual Disclaimer: The words 'race' is used for description purposes only. There was no start point, no finish point and no winning car or person hence no race.

sg72 09 January 2004 08:01 PM

LOL! Kenny
I just happened to mention to a certain Nova owner at my work about dicing with a Scoob.
It was him!
Silver Nova just at the Macmerry speed camera.
Said He was very surprised he toasted you up to (Ahem...20.)
Said though he had to pullin to let you past.
His car's a 1600 not 16vand he's always bombing about/crashing.
His reg. is worth more than the car!
He Knows a thing or two about modding the Nova.
and is a good Lad.
However Tut Tut. Shame on you. He never beats me.LOL!

Steve.

kickflip668 09 January 2004 08:11 PM

cautionary tale about friendly competative driving(not racing!!)

friend driving typeR civic. Friendly contest with golf v6 4 motion. other car comes up fast behind, golf turns off dual carriage way. civic continues race with new car. 120mph. new car blue flashing lights.
12 months ban
hefty fine
looses job
bugger!!

16vmarc 09 January 2004 08:16 PM
