ive just bought the new STi, i pick it up on the 14th of this month. I want to put an atmospheric valve on it, just dyin 4 that wooosh!

But is it gonna mess things up? is it worth it? coz i no it already comes wiv a reserculating valve!

If its best 2 put a atmospheric 1 on, what are the top 3 options?

greasemonkey 04 January 2004 06:18 PM

 You've not even got the car yet and you're already desperate to muck about with it? Imprezas are designed to run with a recirculating dumpvalve, and as you've already been told, atmospheric ones can mess up the fuelling.

If you're desperate for a car to make silly noises, you could have saved a lot of money and bought a knackered old Fiesta RS Turbo instead. If you want to preserve the warranty of your new car, as well as keep it running in optimal condition, leaving it standard for a while might be a good idea.

BTW, why start another two threads on this subject when you asked the very same question yesterday, and received a perfectly good answer?

talk to baileys, thats where i got mine form and its great, had no probs with mine at all. i spoke to my local scooby dealer (were i get it serviced) about mods and he told me as long as they are good parts subaru dont have a problem with it.

Yeah right, until you pop your motor and make a warranty claim.

So,jumping onto this thread, can someone tell me why my PPP '98 Impreza, whooshes, quite loudly, even though it still has the original,(definitely), RDV.

andypugh2000 04 January 2004 08:49 PM

If you have an induction kit or panel filter you will hear it through the filter, mine was silent until i stuck a K+N 57i induction on it now its a loud whoosh ;)

explore - be careful mate - i know of people how have been told the same only to be left high and dry when the s**t hit the fan.

If you going to mod. under warranty get you local dealer to put in writing that they don't mind

I had a forge motorsport atmos dump valve fitted by main dealer on my new sti8 before i even picked it up. sounds great & I like it.
My dealer was not critical of mod.
Good luck

I've had a Baileys VTA on my MY97 for 18 months with no probs at all.....took it off last week for a change and I gotta say I prefer it without the "whoosh" now.....probably put it back on in another 18 months for a change !!
