Scooby96 23 December 2003 04:50 PM

get yourself a decent camera and we'll tell ya!

330uk 23 December 2003 04:50 PM

Looks very nice. Where did you get that shelf ?

ADP 23 December 2003 04:51 PM

you have too much disposable income / time ;) :D

very nice though

Chris29 23 December 2003 04:52 PM

Nice job mate, particularly like the book under the central speaker, touch of class!!!!!!

Only kidding!!

Serious point, rear speakers, shouldn't they face into the room at 45 or more degress to project the sound??

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 04:55 PM

adp, lol! correction tho, too much time NO disposable income now!

the stand is an atacama audio equinox rack. if you go to-
atacama-audio.co.uk theyve got all the diferent sizes available. not to expensive, very well made and you can add shelves as you go!

Proper lad pad, no chick sh*t in sight :)

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 05:01 PM

chris, that isnt a book. thats the who thirty years of maximum r'n'b cd box set:D

ive found because i sit in between the rears, i got the best effect with them firing directly at the main listening seat, as the rears are very directional.

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 05:03 PM

idle, belive it or not mate, i live with my girlfriend! she loves it as much as i do:D
the rest of the house is hers, the lounge is MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris29 23 December 2003 05:05 PM

The Who eh? Makes all the difference!!!

Only mentioned speakers as surely if you move or there are others watching the sound would not be as good? I'm a newbie at this so if obvious question sorry!!

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 05:08 PM

chris, yes your entirely right,it is optimized for my seat and doesnt sound as good for anyone else watching, but they didnt pay for it, did they?:D

Chris29 23 December 2003 05:13 PM

GOOD WORK FELLA!!!!

Markus 23 December 2003 05:15 PM

Very nice!
So come on then, give us the spec of what you've got.

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 05:25 PM

i thought you'd never ask!

in the rack from the top-

Denon dvd2800 mk2 dvd player- if your gonna buy a dvd player, check them out. superb!

Bryston bp25 pre-amp- best two channel pre amp to come out of canada. 20 year parts and labour warranty!(are you reading this subaru?)

Rotel rsp1066 processor- dolby digital-ex/ dts-es up to 7 channel if you've got the room!

Rotel rb 976 power amp- for the center and rear speakers

Bryston 3bsst power amp for the front l/r speakers

PMC db1 speakers front and rear

PMC tb2c center speaker

REL q150e mk2 sub- very subtle when it wants to be, slams you into the chair when you want it to!

Toshiba 42wh36 42" rear projector

pace sky+ EVERYONE should get one! no excuses!

all wired with van den hul speaker/ interconnect cable

Diesel 23 December 2003 05:32 PM

Very nice indeed - have the same telly too :)

That centre speaker might need to go on the wall somehow mate to look neat (may sound better too - and it is the one that does the most work). My centre is actually perched on top of the telly - its a 3 driver long and slim Jamo affair. Looks aesthetically fine too as it is black-ish like the telly.

D

PS if you dont, how you gonna hoover around it ;)

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 05:37 PM

diesel, i know what you mean about the center, trying to get a stand the right height to put it on in front of the set. thats the only problem with the set, its too narrow at the top! have you done the convergence on yours via the service menu? well worth taking a couple of hours over!

scoobydooooo 23 December 2003 05:49 PM

i have the same problem , bloody tv , should have known that i was going to put a center speaker in somewhere !:D

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 05:55 PM

what is....hoover?;)

alcazar 23 December 2003 07:30 PM

Very nice................when are you putting in a carpet?
:D:

Alcazar

Warwick-hunt 23 December 2003 07:54 PM

looks great but can you get CH5 :D

stormyuklondon1 23 December 2003 09:43 PM

chaos, they'd have to get passed the missus first. daunting prospect!

image doctor 23 December 2003 09:48 PM

a touch to council house for me

damage 23 December 2003 10:07 PM

I guess the question is can some thieving scum bag fit all that stuff in the back of the scoob, thats sitting on the drive way, prior to nicking the lot ??

Echo 23 December 2003 10:17 PM

stormyuk, the way to get the best sound is to add an extra centre speaker above with a pan pot to balance the image so that it comes from the 'centre' of the screen. Naturally, you'll need to use a stereo amp for the centre channel and pan the input and NOT the output as that will cack the sound up! It's a great trick that I picked up at Abbey Road's DVD authoring rooms.

:-)

Mike

PS. Looks like you can afford it anyway!

yoza 23 December 2003 10:53 PM
