Whats the difference between a centre pipe with a resonator and one without???

i'm looking at buying one and didn't know which would be best for my car. i've got an my00 turbo, any help would be great.

thanks,

gav..:)

A resonator simply helps to quieten a noisy exhaust. There's no difference in performance, one way or the other. :)

As said it reduces noise, but is slightly more restrictive.. all of about 1bhp in it though..

JGM :)

No, I was just thinking about your MOT, that's all ;) You got a friendly place near you, or you gonna swap back beforehand?

Gav 17 December 2003 10:19 AM

it's in the bag,

the girlfriend's dad does it;)

The_Judge 17 December 2003 10:35 AM

Quality. Now that's the sort of girlfriend you need! :D The Dad of one of my brother's x's is the owner of Aldon Automotive, a tuning company in the Mids. That came in useful for him (I hadn't got a car then), bloody typical they split up!

Gav, just a couple of points to consider. The main reason a vent to atmos. dump valve gives flames is this. The mass meter and the ECU expect the recirculation of a certain amount of air from the factory valve. As a result, there is fuel put in to go with this. Because there isn't enough air, the fuel doesn't ALL burn......whats left hits the hot exhaust and voila......flames and bangs. It can however cause bore wash (fuel goes past rings into engine) and "water" down your oil. Make sure you change your oil lots mate!

I expect i'll get flamed for this (pardon the pun!)

Merry Christmas big lad!

Pete
