All I can say is wow. What a reception. There was thousands there. I got there at about 3 and there was already about 1000 people there. Got near the front anyway !!!

Spoke to a policeman and he said they were totally caught out and didnt expect anywhere near the 5000 or so that had turned up.

All the players looked knackered but in awe of the situation. The William Webb Ellis cup looked amazing as Neil Back carried it past me.

Awesome, i wont forget that in a hurry.

I didnt go as Im in Tokyo. Sat night was one of the best nights of my life. Wifey is still not talking to me (Aussie)...and all pub tokens, sex tokens have been made invalid.....worth it though.

I am not an avid rugby follower. I did watch all the England World Cup matches, but could probably not name everyone in the team or name all the teams they faced.

I made the decision to go last night, and basically its all about having some pride in your national team. So many people are so quick to slag off this country for anything/everything but not stand up and pat people on the back when things are going well. I just wanted to make a point that yes I am proud of them and proud to be English.

Yes its only a bunch of lads that play rugby, but they beat the rest of the World at it. In my book that deserves some praise, support and me getting up early for one day of my life.

Anyway, typical comments coming from the Scots lads anyway. One day you'll win something... :D :D :D

The team must have been amazed at the reception at Heathrow. I bet that will mean more to them than whatever follows. My congrats to those who were able to go and made such a magnificent effort.

I am surprised to see the "sour grapes" comments on this thread. Even most of the Aussies were prepared to give our team full credit for an outstanding performance and the result.

Also if I was a player I'd actually feel embarrassed all the "wannabee on tv'ers" turned up as we landed just so they feel important in saying "I was there, I'm now certified as an important person".

It was an awesome game and the best team won. Finally putting England on top of the world.
If you're not prepared to say something positive about a group of guys performing on the greatest stage in their chosen profession why not just button it.

Fair enough Imlach, but I don't see why they should not have got a bit of a special welcome home, I think it was well deserved as did the people who turned up at Heathrow to do that. It certainly was not just to say that they had been there and to feel important as Spoon said. It was obvious from the TV report that they were there because of the team's achievement. I would have been there too had it been possible. Nothing wrong in the English being proud of their team!

My comment was proven in the fact Druddle can't be a genuine rugby fan if he named the cup incorrectly.

I could only possibly go if I'd watched every game they have ever played and supported them passionately, otherwise I'd feel a knób.

Do you watch every football game going (if thats what you like)? I would have gone to the airport this morning if i could, to show that i support the English teams effort in the World Cup-seeing as they get a total hammering in the media etc usually.

Errrr, yes it does make you less of a rugby/football fan but it makes you more of an England rugby/football fan although without actually going to watch them live and spending your money to pay their wages then it doesn't quite make you a genuine fan.

Good grief. Anyone would think England had lost :D Lighten up chaps and celebrate a truly great sporting achievement. The All Blacks'll get you next time!

I never said i hadn't been to see them live- Ive seen England football games live.

I don't see why people shouldn't feel proud of the Rugby team and want to show it regardless of whether they've seen 1 match on tv or 20.
