catalunya199 24 November 2003 11:32 PM

im debating at the minute between bigger turbo or the link been told turbo would be the better option and finish off with the ecu

drb5 24 November 2003 11:36 PM

why not ry posting in general technical m8. explaining your current situation and possible future mods? can only help more towards your decision m8. i'm not trying to convice you otherwise, but i have been told to do the ecu first, then later on, i'm gonna go for the TD05/06 20g hybrid turbo.:D

again all IMHO:)

catalunya199 24 November 2003 11:38 PM

i might do what is that turbo is it a fancier td05

drb5 24 November 2003 11:41 PM

totally. hold on and i'll get scoty to put a wee post up for you. to tell you a bit about it. all the big boys run them...well, nearly all the big boy;)

catalunya199 24 November 2003 11:45 PM

only thing is i heard from a pro on subarus(well in my eyes he is)
he said if i buy option 2 then i cant map it for the future which could be a drag.but if i get option 1 then it can be mapped over and over only downfall is it will keep costing me every mod i buy.but if i buy the mods first then map them all at the end could be better for us.

dont rule us out yet though cause i cant find any turbos for sale so i will get it if no turbos around

drb5 24 November 2003 11:52 PM

if you go and get every mod for sale and get it all fitted. do you think the ecu will be able to "learn" it all? it won't as far as i know anyway. but i might be wrong.

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:00 AM

so how comes you have gone for option 2 on the link. surely you want to remap it when you get more mods or will componsate for every mod that is fitted cause ive heard bigger injectors need to be mapped into a engine especially from my puny 380s to say 550s

Scoty 25 November 2003 12:01 AM

Hi m8,

Can only say what drb5 has already said.
At the end of the day it's all down to budget.
You dont have to fit the Link just now though and get it mapped, only take advantage of the discounts on the group buy IMHO.
I wouldn't fancy fitting a bigger turbo and running it with a standard ECU for any length of time, probably try and do it all at the same time and drive the car very easily until the re-map?

If your looking for a very good turbo, contact AndyF.
His e-mail is andy9000@hotmail.com
He can sort you out with probably one of the best turbos available for the Impreza just now (the TD05/06 20G) IMHO and about how many others? ;) :D

drb5 25 November 2003 12:11 AM

i shall be going for option 2 but having it remapped as well m8. it was easier to have the lists sorted out like that. you can have option 2 remapped at the beginning too if you want. it lets me make sure i know what i'm doing when going to remap the ecu myself. and as for the injectors, because i have an my99, i have 440's in mine as standard. so no REAL need to upgrade them yet.

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:14 AM

cheers scoty just sent him a mail.

option 2 seems to be most popular but i cant see why if you cant map it in later times, hell if the turbo is at the right price i will get both.

drb5 25 November 2003 12:16 AM

but you CAN map it at later times!

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:23 AM

omg please forgive my stupidity.

you can map option 2 at a later time if this is the case then im defo in for option 2

drb5 25 November 2003 12:24 AM

ok m8. done and dusted:D

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:27 AM

back to original post where can i get a knocklink cheers

drb5 25 November 2003 12:30 AM

i'll get you a good price tied in with the link ecu m8:D

if you want, that is?

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:38 AM

nice one i will take it option2 and a knocklink

drb5 25 November 2003 12:41 AM

ok. it will be a discount of 10% off the price of the knocklink on the website. seen as you taking the ecu as well. good enough for you?

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:47 AM

sure is one last thing i have a dawes device fitted can i still run it with the link

drb5 25 November 2003 12:50 AM

yes m8. the only difference, i've heard, is the dawes boost is i bit more spikier on a rolling road graph than say a boost controller. not to worry though. i'm running a dawes too.

i have actually seen the difference on the graphs and it's making me want to get one. but not for a wee while yet anyway.:)

catalunya199 25 November 2003 12:58 AM

if you want to go on a rr scoobycity are doing one on 22 feb i think you need to be member but its only a tenner its a good day i went last year i hope to be approaching 300 bhp by then fancy some injectors to finish it off think sti yellows will surfice
