Guys,.....I`m looking for a maf sensor,Do any of you guys know if all the classic shape MAF`s are interchangeable and at the same values..Both import or uk,Please....?.Kev.

The MAF's are interchangeable between UK and Jap... BUT! only as long as it fits into the same MY catagory (sp)

Ie.
92-96 Uk - Jap
97-98 Uk - Jap
99-00 Uk - Jap

So if for example you have a 95Wrx, you will need a MAF from a 92-96 UK or jap car.

ive checked against 2 97 uk cars and they were both the smaller version

Damn! the one that i fitted from a 97 Catalunya better come off then:D:D There are two types of 97, there is the older phase one which has the 90 degree turbo inlet and the phase (1.5) which has the front entry inlet to the turbo. I am sure all the front entry models have the same MAF's as eth intake pipes/Airboxes are the same size.. I stated 92-96 to make sure he got the right one for sure..

Should have explained that there was two models in 97..

both mine and my mates are both phase 2`s :D

just to confuse you even more ;)

i belive the 280bhp onwards cars have a larger maf (ie 97wrx and such)

tho it could be random lol

StickyMicky 17 November 2003 02:01 PM

hold on a minuite

are they really phase 2`s lol

are u classing phase 1.5 as the updated engine with the coil thing in the middle and the phase 2 as the one offset to the right??

all the cars i checked have been with the coils in the center

if that helps ;)

I have made enquiries from the specialist scooby garages today,And..The "Values" of the mafs are diffrent,And i was told the uk "Mafs"Are diffrent to the "Import" ones,The part numbers are diffrent for diffrent applications,Also the labels are also diffrent,Apparently,There are diffrent resistors inside each MAF and this sends a diffrent value to the ecu`s,So Each maf,Must be used for its intended application....
The car would no doubt run...?.But wether any damage would be caused....????????
I had better post this ..In its own heading perhaps...I t will help the unknown lads...Kev.
