After recieving 3 dents to my doors in 3 days from inconsiderate B*@#$*!s in car parks I've decided to get the protective door strips. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif
However dealers say its a half hour job to 1 hour to fit, (eg £25-55). http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
If I want to fit it myself,(how difficult can it be? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif) what adheshive should I use, or does it come supplied with some?
Cheers
Iain

In true Blue Peter tradition they come with dual sided sticky backed plastic. Clean the painted area well with white spirit before attaching. Easy peasy job.

Ken you're a star http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
I didn't think it would be rocket science! and certainly not worth £25-50 to fix http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
cheers

Iain,

Warming the adhesive strips with a hairdryer first also helps (seriously!!)

IainT 06 June 2000 10:50 PM

Dave
does it have to have one of those girlie diffuser things on it or will my trusty travel one do http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif?

Thanks IainT , I have ordered a set but I have to wait alot longer than you as I live overseas in Trinidad ...

Oh are they colour matched or do they just come on Black ???

IainT 08 June 2000 07:21 PM

Trinidad? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif What are the roads like there?
Yep they just come in black and I have Deep blue mica and don't look bad at all, dead easy to fit, tho' I expect you wont need a hair dryer to warm the adhesive http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

The roads to the seaside are great corners, a few hazards, up's and down's. Spend most of the time in 2nd and 3rd basically where the power is. And great echoes off the hillsides !!!

I'm sure that I've seen a posting somewhere that said that protection strips from Ford looked better and were even cheaper. Can anyone confirm this?
