Erik.

You will not get any flame-outs while you still have cats in the system.

Hi there,

I've a mongoose full exhaust system from turbo back, and i've got no flame ???

Mike.

Erik 17 May 2000 09:29 AM

Hi all

there is only 0,8 bar after exchange (0,9 before) at 6200rpm on my MY98. Do I need to reset ECU? It`s very strange car goes much better sounds cool but have no flameout.

DavidBrown 17 May 2000 09:36 AM

Which downpipe did you get ?

I'm off to see ScoobySport tomorrow for a cat-less midsection (yay!) and have suspected my turbo hasn't wound up as much since having the SS downpipe fitted.

Erik 17 May 2000 11:25 AM

ScoobySport downpipe and BBox with centre cat.

Stef...

Your talking crap again.....Why does Moray's car have flame outs then...His got a cat.

I don't know...these so called technical minded people...and he had the cheek to say I was thick!!!!

MPROC- I have a FULL 3" Mongoose system and I get flame outs..... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I do have a cat... and I do have flameage... I am happy. But I may go catless for a bit... just to stop restricting those flames! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I suspect that cars running standard management are more likely to flame out if they have a vent-to-atmo style dump-valve fitted (to do with MAF and dump valve confusing the ecu into running rich). Cars with jecs ecu, no cat and a noisy dump valve should flame even better.

That's right - I can witness to Moray's baby killing car - OK he wasn't pressing the loud pedal at the time - but Chuckster's baby was definately browned on one side http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Moray's car also has Motech and anti-lag, which is what causes the flames in his case?
I don't think you'll get flames from a 'normal' car that has cats in the exhaust.
So poo to you ugly monster munch scatmandoo! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Stef.

MorayMackenzie 19 May 2000 09:42 PM

Stef, dude, you are about to stand corrected.

It's a "Motec" ecu, not "motech". It does have anti-lag, but that was nothing to do with the flames you saw.

You actually said "You will not get any flame-outs while you still have cats in the system.". Shaun said my car does flame and I have a cat in the system, both of these propositions are correct, whereas your statement isn't. But that's just me being my pedantic self.

You missed this one Moray http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL

strong 19 May 2000 11:15 PM

So how do you get flames with a cat? I thought a cat acts as a flametrap, does some fuel-rich gas get through and ignite after the cat?

Ok, Ok, easy tiger! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif
Perhaps then Mr Moray you can inform us dimwits how a car with cats can flame, with-out using anti-lag?
Just something I was told that's all.
But if you say it wasn't your anti-lag....(although the ones I saw appeared when Rich turned your a/l on).

Stef.
