Saxo with a "Veilside" (read copy) nose  Jap tuning/styling stuff does not work on a French hatchback - that looks sooooo crap. He can't even put a fecking no. plate on it (its in his front window) - that also makes his car illegal.

And yes, I do have a French hatchback :p

I know some over cooked spoilered 1.1L corsas etc can look sh!te and can be laughable. my point is that a lot of us have been there, me definately included. I just think that..........

deserve to be publicly humiliated
is a bit of a dumb thing to say. been there, seen it, done it, bought the spoilers from halfords.

But he has got red calipers!!
dave

catalunya199 30 September 2003 03:19 PM

so are mine (when the weather holds for the back ones) but why these makes it is so stupid

greasemonkey 30 September 2003 03:48 PM

Lol! Why have big wheels with small spokes when all they do is make piddling small brakes even more obvious? :D

Seems to have standard seats and steering wheel as well, so you can add the Momo sticker to the list of things the car ain't really got. ;)

scoobyfella 30 September 2003 03:57 PM

Can't see the point in slagging of other peoples cars on a public BBs when we all do exactly the same thing just to our own liking. Everyone has to start somewhere and all scooby owners with standard brakes (2-pot or 4-pot) also have piddling poor brakes, so whats the difference, and lots of them also put decals down the side with equipment they don't have on the car also.

I wouldn't slag anyones car of that wasn't as nice as my own (in my opinion that is other people may think it's ****e) as i have had some real sheds yrs ago when scoobys first came out.

catalunya199 30 September 2003 04:02 PM

not slagging the saxo slagging it cause he has jap brands on his car when his is french this happend last time its the decals im slagging cause they dont match the car

SirFozzalot 30 September 2003 04:04 PM

Have to agree with scoobyfella on this one.

Paul Woodward 30 September 2003 04:06 PM

I think any idiots who drive round towns in ridiculous jumped up Vauxhall Corsas, with pointless spoilers and bodykits and 120 decibel music pumping out deserve to publicly humiliated. I never did this when I was younger and I don't know anyone who finds it even slightly impressive.

And they always wear a cap when driving, never understood this, I just put the sun visor down!

wigan wayne 30 September 2003 04:16 PM

Davo

Don't you just lov it though when you pull up at the side
of em and have the "list" but don't need to advertise it.

yeh I can see why they do it and when younger some of
us were there with them, but given a few years he'll be
slagging them of as well!!

Oh I wish I was 17 again.

I might send him some more from father christmas.

Mortywrx 30 September 2003 04:22 PM

I cant say im with you matey. i served my apprentiship as a youth going through vauxhalls with bonnet vents and graphics and loud bass playing down your street at night etc..
We all grow up in time, I for one used to be impressed by other youths like me.
heres my old astra gsi, complete with functunal impreza vent.

Mortywrx, try going faster ;)

EddScott 30 September 2003 04:40 PM

If I thought people would get the joke I'd love to put a REAL shopping list down the side of my car!

Eggs
Bacon
Sausages
Bread
Milk

All in the same style as the tuning companies. Can you imagine "sausages" in the Greddy logo? lol.

How was it functional? Did you have a top mounted intercooler?

May I refer the honourable Gentlemen to this thread
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=252692
and ask them to point out where the mods are that are listed on the side of his Subaru Impreza

Hyprocrites, the lot of you ;)

v5 man 30 September 2003 06:24 PM

Garycat.
dont be a pr!ck all your life!!!!!!
i was saying it was cut in, rather than being stuck on.
infact, it did function as a vent!

These four pots Scoobyfella (and Triple X)... They can't be quite as bad as you're making out, as they're the same four pots the Group N cars have to use on gravel rallies, and Martin Rowe and Toshihiro Arai are currently first and second in the Production Car World Rally Championship.

Maybe they're alright in the hands of a decent driver? ;)

I think this is the type of thread that makes scoobynet a ****e place to be sometimes, why do some people insist on slagging other cars off it's beyond me.

Greasemonkey, it isn't the calipers surely you realise mate, it is the discs and pads that are the problem and i'm pretty sure Martin Rowe and Toshihri Arai don't have standard Subaru discs and pads on mate.

Paul Woodward,

And they always wear a cap when driving, never understood this, I just put the sun visor down!
so whats the problem with wearing a cap,(you would look pretty stupid with a sun visor on your head Paul, but ehh each to his own mate) now your slagging off their clothes:confused: Anyone into cars should realise each to his own, who says what is right and wrong!!!!!

Can not see the sense at all in threads like this.

If you were referring to something other than the overall brake design in general, why didn't you say so? All I saw was a generalised comment to them being "piddling poor", no mention of discs or pads.

Yes they do. Discs are bog standard production pattern items. Can't be anything else in Group N.

and pads on mate.
They use commercially available compounds like Pagid Blue or Ferodo DS2500.

J4CKO 30 September 2003 07:59 PM

Back to the point, not slagging the car but having Jap tuning companies one your French car for which none of the listed companies produce anything for is a bit strange, as a variation on the Sausage theme perhaps a Scoob owner could list,

Gitanes
Pernod
Frogs Legs
L'Escargot
Hairy Pits
Eurodisney
Soap Dodging

on the side of their vehicle.

SlowBoy 30 September 2003 09:27 PM

Lol @ J4CKO :D Now, where did I put that 'petit pois' sticker?

scoobyfella 30 September 2003 09:57 PM

No but people are just up for slagging of other cars in general, hence the joke about his wheels and calipers looking stupid.

akshay67 30 September 2003 11:22 PM

It's like a food chain. Us people in our Jap tins get slagged off in the same way by the European exotica frat.

Marky-San 30 September 2003 11:30 PM

I think the best part of this thread been the admission that we've all owner ****ters to get to where we are today.

I remember my Uno Turbo with logos along the side skirt, and worse still chequered flag type decals on the rear of my XR2. Infact, I've had alot of these items sponsored mainly by strange youthful fixation with Halfords  and my total lack of car styling :D

Thankfully, I'm alittle older and have some readies to do it all properly.

catalunya199 30 September 2003 11:56 PM

yes tony i am in the artillery think i saw your car the other day is yours blue mica sti8

Paul Woodward 01 October 2003 10:38 AM

v5man, all of us want our cars to look nice, but you have to admit that most of the heaps that drive round town just look ridiculous, I really believe that if something isn't serving a purpose (like a spoiler) it shouldn't be on there. I'm all for subtle improvements like colour coding bumpers, mirrors etc.
Perhaps it's because I had motorbikes 'til I was 20 that I missed out on that stage, although it is funny when an XR2 tries to race a 500cc 2 stroke bike!
