Hello folks, I`ve had MY93 WRX for about 3 months now, after having a faulty fuel pump replaced, the car has been fine, until today. The car usually runs at about 0.8 bar when on full bore, but seems to have now dropped to 0.5 bar, leaving the acceleration feel poor. Anybody else had problems, if so, how was it resolved. Cheers, Proby.

Your waste gate solenoid is probably faulty or contaminated with engine oil.If it is contaminated with oil,try cleaning solenoid with a degreaser solvent.Good Luck.

Are you comparing in like for like situations. Crawling through traffic can cause the engine heat to warm the intercooler and this will result in lower boost pressures. After sufficient cooling from say a motorway drive, the intercooler temperature will fall and boost will be restored.

My car gives an extra 2-4psi on a cold night, compared with a warm day/urban driving conditions.

Hi proby,

what was the symptom when you run before with the defect fuel pump (did the car cut completely the revs during few seconds when you pushed at high boost pressure ? or did you feel little shaked during acceleration?)

Hi Folks, thanks for the intrest, the car now seems to be running much better, though sometimes, I seem to get a little flatspot, or a hesitation at 0.5 bar, then it roars up to 0.8 bar. Pete, I did consider climate conditions, but with the, now sometimes `hesitation` I thought maybe ruled that out. Fred, when the fuel pump was on the way out, symptoms were major splutering when coming onto boost, then it got worse and worse, until the car struggled to tick over. Then it would not start at all. I will try cleaning the wastegaste solenoid tommorow with electrical spray cleaner. Cheers guys.
