Currently you can only de-cat a mk1 172 as that is single lamba!
As you know the mk2 has a twin lambda setup and it throws a wobbly if you remove the cat. So far only Cup's with the R-Sport ECU can run a de-cat without any problems. However, K-Tec are developing a "sports cat" for the mk2 172/Cup that gives 6-8bhp apparently, will work fine with the twin lambda's, will pass an MOT and is fully road legal, so ideal. Gonna be £250-£300 apparently when on sale. |
My car was used to prototype the Janspeed exhaust on the Mk2 172. It had a full de-cat and no lights came on .... No worries. Oh and it was free haha....Was rolling roaded to 183BHP at janspeed

mines the supersprint race exhaust so should be a laugh they can all be decated its jus knowing what the second sensor needs to know to stop the light

Like i said mine was fine

ta very much mate will see how it goes when it turns up

So what did they do with the 2nd lambda then Gary???
I assume it's just mounted on the later part of the de-cat in a similar postion to where it would be in the cat? Is there a noticable difference now? |
