The reason i am asking is that i have got the chance of getting a prodrive ecu for my MY96 pre-facelift. I have got my car booked in for a unichip but you know how these cars tend to cost you money when you least expect it and after a few surprise repairs over the last week funds are low.
So i have the chance to buy a prodrive ecu out of a 95/96 car which should keep me happy for a while but can it be re-mapped in the future and is it easier/harder to do than the standard ecu. The only mods are full de-cat and panel filter. |
The prodrive ECU is a standard ECu with a chip. The chip (in unprogrammed form) is no longer available. The scoobyecu product is an way around this, similar to the boards used by chip tuners the world over.
Put it this way, I wouldn't spend more than £150 on a complete prodrive ECU (ie no exchange required). Can be remapped to suit afterwards. Paul |
Pavlo - you never sleep?

So can a unichip still be used then at a later date, and if i understand this correcly the ecu is exactly the same with better fueling, ignition and boost?

Ouch......a unichip, mail me tomorrow i'll put you in touch with a few people......then make your mind up as to what chip you want
|
Cheers Ferrarinutter will do.
But do all the same rules apply as with the standard ecu |
Also how safe are the scooby ecu's
|
Come on people gotta deadline of tomorrow afternoon to make my mind up HELP!
|
I have a custom mapped(scoobyecu)version on MY96 and its the best bang for buck you can get. Very pleased with it! :D :D

So would it make more sense to get a scoobyecu on my original ecu.
Are you running any other mods. |
Full decat, panel filter, HKS EVCIV Boost controller, water injection and last but not least custom mapped scoobyecu. :D
|
I did a prodrive ecu not so long ago... or tried to..
The chip is glued in so not easy to remove.. meaning you possibly cant go back to prodrive.. Best bet is buy a second hand uk / wrx ecu and do that.. David |
Been to see David Wallis this evening, got a scoobyecu map and am well pleased with the results:D
David, nice one works a treat m8 |
You like it then??
David |
yes, had a bit of a play on the way home but kept spinning in the wet so will be out all day today "testing" :D ;).
|
Let me know how you get on :D
David |
also a unichip (Dastek) is a biggy back chip... it gets hard wired into the loom, and works in collaberation (sp?) with yer existing ecu.
So it doesn't matter what ecu you have. It'll always go on :D J |
eh?
|
ah... i meant a piggy back chip.. not biggy
It's the Dastek Unichip i'm referring to here. It works in collaberation with yer existing chip. It advances/retards the timing a wee bit here and there over what the ECU is already set at... trying to get the optimal/max preformance setting. It does that for fuel mixture too. So it doesn't matter what ecu you're already running.. it'll work with anything. make any sense? i know what i mean.. a wee bit fiddly trying to get it down in words. Hi, David.
Don't know if you can help, I was recommended by someone to get in touch with you, I've got a 93 wrx, the problem was the boost cut off so I got a super chip it hasn't run right ever since, are you able to re-map the orignal ecu for me. If it's possible could you give me your number so you can give me some advice or any help would be appreciated. Thanks Clint |
drop me a mail :)
