ATTENTION David Wallis or any ECU BOYS ADVICE NEEDED CAN A PRODRIVE ECU BE REMAPPED
#1
The reason i am asking is that i have got the chance of getting a prodrive ecu for my MY96 pre-facelift. I have got my car booked in for a unichip but you know how these cars tend to cost you money when you least expect it and after a few surprise repairs over the last week funds are low.
So i have the chance to buy a prodrive ecu out of a 95/96 car which should keep me happy for a while but can it be re-mapped in the future and is it easier/harder to do than the standard ecu.
The only mods are full de-cat and panel filter.

The prodrive ECU is a standard ECu with a chip. The chip (in unprogrammed form) is no longer available. The scoobyecu product is an way around this, similar to the boards used by chip tuners the world over.
Put it this way, I wouldn't spend more than £150 on a complete prodrive ECU (ie no exchange required).
Can be remapped to suit afterwards.

So can a unichip still be used then at a later date, and if i understand this correcly the ecu is exactly the same with better fueling, ignition and boost?

I have a custom mapped(scoobyecu)version on MY96 and its the best bang for buck you can get. Very pleased with it!

I did a prodrive ecu not so long ago... or tried to..
The chip is glued in so not easy to remove..
meaning you possibly cant go back to prodrive..
Best bet is buy a second hand uk / wrx ecu and do that..

also a unichip (Dastek) is a biggy back chip... it gets hard wired into the loom, and works in collaberation (sp?) with yer existing ecu.
So it doesn't matter what ecu you have. It'll always go on

ah... i meant a piggy back chip.. not biggy
It's the Dastek Unichip i'm referring to here.
It works in collaberation with yer existing chip.
It advances/retards the timing a wee bit here and there over what the ECU is already set at... trying to get the optimal/max preformance setting. It does that for fuel mixture too.
So it doesn't matter what ecu you're already running.. it'll work with anything.
make any sense? i know what i mean.. a wee bit fiddly trying to get it down in words.

Hi, David.
Don't know if you can help, I was recommended by someone to get in touch with you, I've got a 93 wrx, the problem was the boost cut off so I got a super chip it hasn't run right ever since, are you able to re-map the orignal ecu for me. If it's possible could you give me your number so you can give me some advice or any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Clint
